The event is loaded with talented players across the board, and I expect we’ll see some big-time performances throughout day two. Here are some players that deserve recognition after the first day of games:
2023 Carley Faulkner Carley Faulkner 6'1" | SF Huntley | 2023 IL , 6’1” Guard, Illinois Rockets
Faulkner is an athletic Shooting Guard who can play the Small Forward role as well with her length and confidence in the lane. Carley shows a ton of skill when driving to the hoop and scoring over defenders and provides great versatility on the defensive end of the floor with her length and athletic ability.
2022 Darryn Hood Darryn Hood 5'5" | CG Tindley | 2022 State IN , 5’5” Guard, Indiana Showcase
Hood is an explosive ball-handler with great speed that she uses to push the tempo to a pace where she is comfortable playing at, while most others are not. Darryn can shoot the ball well from the outside and is a constant threat to come away with steals on the defensive end.
2023 Morgan McDermott Morgan McDermott 5'11" | SG Beecher | 2023 State FL , 5’9” Guard, Example Sports
A knock-down shooter from anywhere beyond the three-point line, McDermott continues to show an evolving all-around game. She plays with a high IQ and great confidence with the ball in her hands. Morgan is a nice asset on the defensive end of the floor with her quick feet and long arms to disrupt opposing ball-handlers.
2023 Chloe Sisco Chloe Sisco 5'7" | PG Prairie Central | 2023 State IL , 5’6” Guard, Fusion Academy
Sisco is a high-scoring Point Guard who shoots the ball with a ton of confidence and was lights out throughout her first game. She is quick and shifty with the ball in her hands and uses that to get good looks at the basket in the lane.
2022 Makenzie Carroll, 5’5” Guard, Indiana Showcase
A talented shooter from the Point Guard position, Carroll brings a lot to the table as a lead Guard. She is speedy with the ball in her hands and regularly makes good decisions. Makenzie plays terrific on-ball defense, making things difficult on opposing ball-handlers.
2023 Azyah Newson-Cole Azyah Newson-Cole 5'7" | PG Lincoln-Way Central | 2023 State IL , 5’7” Guard, Example Sports
A top Point Guard in the Class of 2023, Newson-Cole continues to make high-level plays with the ball in her hands. Azyah is a terrific shooter from deep and uses her speed and athleticism to attack the basket and score in the lane.
2023 Addy McLeod Addy McLeod 5'9" | CG Champaign Central | 2023 State IL , 5’7” Guard, Fusion Academy
McLeod is a highly skilled Combo Guard with a very high ceiling. She is a confident player who shoots the ball well from deep with good range and is able to make plays in the lane. Addy has great composure with the ball in her hands and makes an impact on the defensive end with her length and athleticism.
2022 Darryn Ely Darryn Ely 5'10" | PF Cathedral | 2022 State IN , 5’11” Forward, Indiana Showcase
An athletic stretch-Forward with a high ceiling, Ely scores the ball well in the lane with a variety of post moves and excellent touch. Darryn moves well without the ball to get herself open and often displays a good-looking jumper from the mid-range.
