PGH Legacy Classic: Day One Standouts
In this article:
Prep Girls Hoops’ Legacy Classic event in Omaha, Nebraska is off to a hot start with all the talent in the building. There’s a good variety of size on the block and guards that can duel with the best of them. The prospects competed hard on both ends of the floor and you could routinely see the girls sacrificing their bodies for that extra possession. PGH wants to cover as many prospects as possible but there’s no better way to start off than the top performers from day one. There’s a lot of names that need to be mentioned, but let’s start with a few of the top prospects. Here we go!
Audi Crooks Audi Crooks 6'3" | C Bishop Garrigan | 2023 State #42 Nation IA – (6’3/C/2023) – CY Select 2022 Alpha – Bishop Garrigan (Iowa) – #1 ranked Iowa 2023 – You’re not going to find many interior prospects in the nation that can match the overall size of Audi. She’s a nationally recognized prospect by PGH and D1 offers have already came in, including Iowa, Iowa St., Maryland, to name a few. On day one of the Legacy Classic, you could also find her altering and swatting shots on a consistent basis. A true inside scorer and rim-protector on the other end. The Molly Joyce Molly Joyce 5'7" | PG Bishop Garrigan | 2023 State IA and Audi Crooks Audi Crooks 6'3" | C Bishop Garrigan | 2023 State #42 Nation IA two-man game is a little too much to handle throughout a full game. They’re in sync with each other and you can see it with their communication with each other on the court.
Molly Joyce Molly Joyce 5'7" | PG Bishop Garrigan | 2023 State IA – (5’7/PG/2023) – CY Select 2022 Alpha – Bishop Garrigan (Iowa) – Speaking of that two-man game, Molly is the second ingredient to that formidable mismatch for opposing teams. They play high school and club ball together so — let’s say — they’re on the same page. Molly floats up pin-point passes over top the defense to Audi to get her near-look shots at the hoop for easy deuces. Molly has extreme handles, but doesn’t have any wasted movement with them. Her moves are for a purpose — to create separation. And she can do just that. Has good quickness but not elite quickness. Molly scores on all three levels, as she’s a great extended finisher off-the-glass, has a lethal mid-range, and is deadly accurate from three. To sum up her game, she’s a left-handed John Stockton.
Britt Prince Britt Prince 5'11" | PG Elkhorn North | 2024 State NE – (5’10/PG/2024) – Elite Basketball 2024 – Elkhorn North (Nebraska) – Day one seemed a little too easy for Britt. She’s so skilled and moves so well that it didn’t seem like she had to go full-throttle quite yet with her team securing easy wins early in their two matchups. She has an extra gear to her lateral quickness that she hasn’t had to tap into yet. Game two, I noticed that she was effortlessly heaving 1/2 to 3/4 quart passes on a dime to teammates. The game is slowed way down for Britt. She has secured offers from Creighton and Maryland by my research. So she’s a player. Day two of the PGH Legacy Classic could awaken a beast. See below:
Inia Jones Inia Jones 5'7" | PG Omaha Central | 2024 State NE – (5’7/PG/2024) – Nebraska Hoops Elite – Omaha Central (Nebraska) – The Freshman phenom put on a mixtape day one of the PGH Legacy Classic. A human highlight reel Inia was. She’s a near impossible one-on-one matchup for a single defender, with her ball-handling combos, speed, and playing strength. When it looks like she may be stopped, she muscles her way for a cleaner look. Quick, strong, and skilled with the ball. What makes her a tough guard as well, is her ability to fade in both directions when she gets cut-off by the defender. Her playmaking ability on defense is quite noticeable as well. She’ll go all-out for a steal and either secure the steal or create some sort of confusion or miscommunication for the ball-handler. Her suddenness on both ends of the court make her an elite point guard. Did I mention the skates were out on those trying to matchup with Inia?
Brookyln Kruse – (6’3/C/2023) – United Sports Acacemy 2023 – Wayne High School (Nebraska) – Brooklyn is a long 6’3 post that runs well and is athletic. So she naturally made the list. She was nabbed as an early top performer with 18 points in game one. When scanning the courts it’s hard not to notice Brooklyn as she was one of the tops at the event in overall length and wingspan. Runs the floor like a guard, creating steals, and blocks shots like a rim-protecting center. Brooklyn is not a finesse player by any means and will sit in a stance and fight for position and leverage all game. Understands the game and is always finding a body. Needs some offensive refinement but is still a solid finisher around the rim.
