PGH Legacy Classic: South Dakota Prospects
In this article:
Prep Girls Hoops Dakotas made the trip to Omaha, Nebraska for the PGH Legacy Classic this past weekend and some South Dakota prospects were spotted competing there. Peyton Tritz Peyton Tritz 5'6" | PG Waverly | 2024 State NE , 2024 point guard of Dakota Valley was there with her Nebraska Attack 2024 UAA team and was featured as a standout performer in the tournament.
The other South Dakota prospects played with United Sports Academy 2025 Red and White teams. All of them were recently added to the 2025 South Dakota prospect database for future rankings. They were from both Dakota Valley and Elk Point-Jefferson high schools. Let’s get to know the prospects a little more.
Hailey Hamm Hailey Hamm 5'6" | SG Dakota Valley | 2025 State SD – (5’6/SG/2025) – United Sports Academy 2025 Red – Dakota Valley – Hailey, shown in the featured image, is a good athlete with exceptional movement ability in all directions. She has no problem sliding laterally both as an off-ball and on-ball defender. More of a defender with great defensive technique and anticipation skills at this point as a 2025, but if she’s able to add an offensive arsenal to her game she can become a solid overall prospect as she has the athletic tools.
Bentlee Kollbaum Bentlee Kollbaum 5'10" | SF Elk Point-Jefferson | 2025 State SD – (5’8/Wing2025) – United Sports Academy 2025 Red – Elk Point-Jefferson – Bentlee, #20 pictured below, has a long frame standing at a around 5’8-5’9. Long arms that will be beneficial for her going forward. Needs some refining in her skills but that will come naturally with her getting this club ball experience. There’s a lot of time for her to become a two-way prospect.
Emersen Mead Emersen Mead 5'9" | SF Dakota Valley | 2025 State SD – (5’9/Wing/2025) – United Sports Academy Red 2025 – Dakota Valley – Emersen didn’t compete in all of the games for reasons unknown. I was only able to catch her playing in one game this past weekend. She’s a true wing prospect and had the best combination of long build and athleticism on the entire roster. An aggressive defender with elite defensive upside with her length and substantial athleticism. She’s highly alert and active defensively, giving the offensive player no room to breath. She will be a fun one to monitor on the high school level with Dakota Valley as a long wing, as her upside is evident.
Ashley Brewer Ashley Brewer 5'10" | SF Elk Point-Jefferson | 2025 State SD – (5’9/SF-PF-C/2025) – United Sports Academy 2025 White – Elk Point-Jefferson – Good size for a 2025 that can play inside and and is able to knock down outside shots. She can post very hard and roam out to the wing spot. She projects as a 3,4, or 5 depending on how she grows and how her quickness and foot speed develop. She moves fairly well but still plays a little too high, so the mechanics of how she moves could be adjusted for her to perform better athletically. She got varsity action for Elk Point-Jefferson and had an 11 point 11 rebound double-double against Tiospa Zina. She’s a future college player if she has that desire to do so. Ashley will be high on the list to monitor to see on how she develops and what position/positions she translates into.
Courtney Brewer Courtney Brewer 5'5" | PG Elk Point-Jefferson | 2025 State SD – (5’4/SG/2025) – United Sports Academy 2025 White – Elk Point-Jefferson – Courtney was brought up to varsity action as well this past season for Elk Point-Jefferson, along with Kaitlyn VanRoekel Kaitlyn VanRoekel 5'3" | PG Elk Point-Jefferson | 2025 State SD mentioned below. Courtney is a hard working, hard-nosed prospect that will hustle and give 100%. She’s an alert, focused, and smart defensive player. Offensively, not overly skilled in a single trait but can perform all the necessary actions to be a contributing player for United Sports Academy.
Kaitlyn VanRoekel Kaitlyn VanRoekel 5'3" | PG Elk Point-Jefferson | 2025 State SD – (5’3/PG/2025) – United Sports Academy 2025 White – Elk Point-Jefferson – Katelyn is a quick point guard that can handle the ball and distribute. She’s able to relieve defensive pressure by performing an effective back-dribble and also by attacking the hip of the defender. She’s a tenacious on-ball defender that easily cuts-off the ball-handler, then goes to swipe the ball for a steal. Runs the floor very hard with speed and has a great ability to recover if the opposing team is on a potential transition break.
