HONORABLE MENTIONS
Ashley Bower Ashley Bower SG Portland | 2022 State MI (SG, Portland)
I didn’t realize exactly how good Bower really is until I saw her do it consistently on a big stage in the playoffs. She was the key scorer on a state title run for Portland.
Brooke Daniels Brooke Daniels PG Macomb L'Anse Creuse | 2022 State MI (PG, Macomb L’Anse Creuse North)
Daniels is an explosive athlete and a dynamic lead guard. Her quickness and playmaking ability helped lead her team to a semifinal appearance in state playoffs.
Alaina Diaz Alaina Diaz 5'7" | CG Hudsonville | 2022 State MI (CG, Hudsonville)
Diaz was our D1 Final 4 MVP, and for good reason. She was a catalyst on an all time great team.
Mya Petticord Mya Petticord 5'9" | PG Arbor Prep | 2022 State #33 Nation MI (PG, Arbor Prep)
You’ll have a hard time convincing me that Petticord isn’t a top 20 prospect in the country in the junior class. She helped her young team reach the Regional Finals.
Mia Riley Mia Riley PG Fowler | 2022 State MI (PG, Fowler)
Riley is a big time point guard that can get buckets when her team needs them. She led Fowler to a state title.
Amanda Roach Amanda Roach CG Hartland | 2022 State MI (CG, Hartland)
Roach was a dynamic sparkplug on both ends for an outstanding Hartland team.
Jaci Tubergen Jaci Tubergen SG Hudsonville | 2022 State MI (SG, Hudsonville)
Tubergen proved to be an elite shooter and scorer. She could be dubbed as a go-to option on a state title team.
Ruby Whitehorn Ruby Whitehorn 6'0" | PG Detroit Edison | 2022 State #20 Nation MI (PG, Detroit Edison)
When I watch Whitehorn play, WNBA sneaks into my head. Her combination of size, strength, and ball skills are flat out ridiculous.
Avery Zeinstra Avery Zeinstra 5'7" | PG Byron Center | 2022 State MI (PG, Byron Center)
It feels like Avery Zeinstra Avery Zeinstra 5'7" | PG Byron Center | 2022 State MI could score every time she touches the ball and any time that she wants to.
PLAYER OF THE YEAR
Lexus Bargesser Lexus Bargesser 5'8" | PG Grass Lake | 2022 State MI (PG, Grass Lake)
Bargesser had the type of season that belongs in a movie. She led Grass Lake to it’s first ever girls basketball state championship. Bargesser did it in dominating fashion averaging 23 points per game, 8.3 rebounds per game, 4.5 assists per game, and 3.8 steals per game. The video of her talking to her teammates late in the state title game is the thing that legends are made of. Nobody will forget, “I won’t miss.” Bargesser is easily a top 100 prospect in the country and is pushing the top 50 very hard. She’s a 2 way player that heavily influences a game on both ends of the floor. Bargesser is in stellar physical condition and can log heavy minutes on the court. She has some very impressive moves and counter moves that create space and give her quality looks at the rim. Lexus Bargesser Lexus Bargesser 5'8" | PG Grass Lake | 2022 State MI is an excellent choice for the Prep Girls Hoops Michigan Player of the Year for the class of 2022.
