There are a lot more games tomorrow and if Friday was any indication, there is some very, very good basketball ahead.
Paola Perez-Mendoza Paola Perez-Mendoza 5'5" | PG McClintock | 2021 State AZ | 5-5 CG | New Mexico D1 | 2021
I had to ask Perez-Mendoza after the game if she was the coaches daughter (she isn’t). Her demeanor on the court and her vocal leadership were unmatched on any team. Her handles are ridiculous. Her hands are lightning fast on defense, leading to a LOT of steals. She is a 2021 and I would be shocked if she isn’t already committed. But, if she isn’t, she needs offers – now, assuming you are a coach who values leadership, smarts and just flat-out basketball talent.
Emerald St. Laurent | 6-2 F/C | 3T Nation
St. Laurent is a big, but mobile player. She was the absolute main scoring option for her squad and was almost unstoppable on the block. She is a very good rebounder who demands the ball when presented with a mismatch down low. She gets up and down the court well and has very good footwork under the rim. She has good hands to receive the ball under the basket or rolling away from throwing the screen. I am not sure yet of her class, but she is one to watch if she isn’t committed.
Allie Buchanan Allie Buchanan 6'1" | PF Lake Dallas | 2022 State TX | 6-0 F | Platinum Basketball (Bates) | 2022
Allie is just an outstanding player and really a lot of fun to watch. She goes hard all game long and is an integral part of a talented all-around squad. She is big and strong, yet is not relegated to just the post. She can shoot from the outside and her handles and confidence with the ball in her hands leads to her being moved all over the floor. She would be an asset to any squad due to her versatility and the fact that she is just a really, really good basketball player.
Destiny Buerge Destiny Buerge 5'8" | PG Carl Junction | 2023 State MO | 5-8 CG | Team Tulsa | 2023
Destiny is an unbelievable scorer. Her team put up 82 points and she had 20 of them. She scored from all three-levels and is a great shooter from long range. She is also a good defender who helped her team hold their opponent to 17 points. She shows quick feet moving laterally and has the length to block a lot of shots and poke the ball away from her opponent. Buerge is a phenomenal player and one that I can’t wait to get a look at again tomorrow! Coaches, you should tale a look on BallerTV, too.
Now, time to turn in and dream about basketball until 8:00am when we tip-off again!
