We have entered an era of basketball in which just about every player is at least capable of making a jump shot. That said, there will always be a select few whose shooting ability is on a different level, and I think these prospects fall into that category.
Donavia Hall | 2022 | 5’9” Small Forward | Plano East HS – Hall can heat up in an instant from deep. I got to witness that in the UIL 6A regional finals when she tore it up in the fourth quarter. She is a confident three-point shooter who can take over games with her scoring.
Jiya Perry Jiya Perry 5'11" | SF DeSoto | 2022 State TX | 2022 | 5’11” Shooting Guard/Small Forward | DeSoto HS – Perry has a beautiful jumper. The DeSoto prospect showed that she is a consistent shooter from mid-range as well as from behind the arc. Furthermore, she has the ability to hit off-balance shots from the catch and off the bounce.
Kaylee Lewis | 2022 | 5’10” Shooting Guard/Small Forward | Colleyville Heritage HS – Lewis shot a steady 36% from three-point land and accounted for at least three triples in five games this past season. The 2022 wing was a fantastic shooter from the catch. She was virtually automatic from deep when I saw her play against Grapevine.
Boston Hundley | 2022 | 5’5” Point Guard | Colleyville Heritage HS – Hundley first impressed me last summer and again earlier this year with her IQ as a floor general. Part of that was her shot-selection. She is an opportunistic shooter who knows when her team is in need of a big shot. Additionally, she has good range from distance and also displayed the ability to hit long twos.
Emery Kirkpatrick | 2022 | Power Forward | Grapevine HS – Kirkpatrick is an outstanding catch-and-shoot player on the perimeter. She stretched the floor and provided a ton of spacing for her team on offense. Her mechanics are consistent as well. The Grapevine forward knocked down four triples in a playoff game vs. Mansfield Summit, including a buzzer-beating three to win the game.
Macey Borland | 2022 | 6’0” Small Forward | Plano Senior HS – Borland came off the bench for Plano when I saw her in action, but she immediately made an impact whenever she entered the game. That was largely due to her combination of height and shooting touch from outside. The 6-foot wing was an excellent shooter from beyond the three-point line and thrived from the corners.
