I’ll drop the 2023 Top Performers and I don’t want to upset anyone, wait, why should I care at this stage, I’ll close with The Babies but seriously, I had a blast, I’m still sore yet many young ladies were soaring
Aaliyah Roberson Aaliyah Roberson 6'2" | PF Clark | 2022 State TX -6’2 (SA Hoops Elite Gold) 2022
Roberson is just hard to handle, there is no other way for me to put it as she uses her college-ready body quite well to attack, she takes defenders off the dribble with either hand and finishes with either hand but she also can drop it from midrange and her consistency definitely keeps the defense guessing. She does a good job rebounding, scoring off putbacks, and her hands and footwork inside the paint…..
Karly Ivy-5’9 PG (HG Elite 2022) 2022
Ivy attacked the basket strongly and showed she could not only finish, including after contact but also dish to her teammates in fact she did a good job at controlling the tempo as well as seeing the floor. Her ballhandling was steady and smooth, she also created her shot while being pressured and her pull-up jumper was consistent
Meli Horendo-5’0 PG (San Antonio Unite BLACK 2022) 2022
Horendo gets the hashtag #sizedontmatter because she can play and her poise has always impressed me in whatever setting I’ve caught her playing in, she’s heady, doesn’t force anything, well that’s a lie, she applies defensive pressure and forces
Alena Deleon-6’1 PF (Team Lex Loaded) 2022
Deleon uses her 73 inches to the max and when you factor in her wingspan, the fact that she’s long and athletic as well as played the passing lane, I forgot to mention “long and athletic” is the base I use to profile certain players so she created some issues on defense altering shots, she rebounded well on both ends but she also showed she could attack from the wing and finish
Katelyn Chomko-5’7 PG (Just Play Elite) 2022
Chomko was one of many juniors I could have chosen from this talented squad yet I don’t mention Chomko enough because she just brings it every time, she scores in the flow and she does so much that may not appear on a stat sheet which equates to she plays within herself yet makes things happen but that pull-up jumper is sweet
Destiny Smith Destiny Smith 5'6" | CG Edison | 2022 State OK -5’9 SG (Oklahoma Swish 2022/2023 Foreman) 2022
Smith is coming along nicely with her new squad, been watching her since I caught her older sister Mariah at a Gannon Baker Camp when she was in the 5th grade, ironically that’s when I first went solo so everywhere I am, I seem to catch her and her talented sisters, two younger ones are coming but Destiny and her pull-up jumper has given me so many OMG moments over the years, she is showing she does a whole lot more than shoot the ball as her seeing the floor and defense are standing out as well
