Sometimes kids get overlooked, have their offers pulled, maybe the coach who recruited them got fired – it could be a whole plethora of things – not to even mention the havoc that the pandemic has wreaked on the basketball community. All of that being said, there are a handful of really good players out here in Oklahoma still looking for a place to call home next season. Here is a look at some of the best of those athletes.
Landyn Owens Landyn Owens 5'8" | SF Ada | 2021 State OK Ι 5-8 G/F Ι Ada Ι 2021 Ι @landyn_owens
Owens is an absolute scoring machine. She has silky smooth handles and can flat-out fill it up. She can hit from deep, shows a tremendous mid-range jumper and can get to the rim with very good size and speed. Owens had signed an NLI with Hartford but has re-opened her recruiting after head coach Morgan Valley left to rejoin the staff at UConn. Some school is really, really going to luck out here. Owens is the No.13-ranked player in the class of 2021 and is a no doubt D-1 player. They just don’t make scorers like her everyday. I imagine her phone is blowing up, time to shoot your shot coaches!
Linda Brice Linda Brice 5'5" | PG Coweta | 2021 State OK Ι 5-7 CG Ι Coweta Ι 2021 Ι @lindabrice3
Speaking of players who can flat out get the ball in the bucket, let me introduce you to Linda Brice Linda Brice 5'5" | PG Coweta | 2021 State OK . The all-conference offensive player of the year can seriously do it all. She is long and uses her length to release a beautiful, high three-point shot that she hits at a high percentage. She also gets up and down the floor very quickly and does a good job of finishing with a defender in front of her in the lane or breathing down her neck on the fast break. She isn’t just relegated to offense either. On the defensive end she shows quick hands to force a lot of steals and disrupt the passing lanes. Don’t miss out on your chance to grab a tremendous 2021 player to round out your class coaches!
Jenna Marshall Jenna Marshall 5'10" | PF Deer Creek | 2021 State OK Ι 5-9 CG Ι Deer Creek Ι 2021 Ι @jmarsh034
Just like Brice, I’m not sure I understand why Marshall is still “up for grabs.” Brice could be chalked up to playing at a small school potentially. Jenna on the other hand plays at Deer Creek where several D-I players have played recently. After seeing her play in person these last few years, I can honestly say, “coaches, what the heck are you waiting for?!?!?” The rankings haven’t been updated in a while as we begin to work on ranking the younger players, but if they were, Marshall would be moved into at least the top-15. She is a baller. She is quick and long and just extremely fluid with her play. She is a sticky defender who can make life very hard on her opponent. She blocks a lot of shots and gets out in transition. Somebody is going to sneak in here at the last moment and fill out their class with a really, really good basketball player.
