Continue ReadingTalented. Hungry. Fierce. Driven. These characteristics were on display at the CP Exposure Showcase event this past Saturday at Spring Hill High School. Director Rod Ramzy provided an incredible platform that invited talented girls from multiple states, ready to showcase their abilities in front of collegiate coaches. Girls from Tennessee, Alabama, Kentucky, Mississippi, and Georgia were duking it out to capture the eyes of schools in attendance. Coaches who came out, walked away pleased with what they saw, ready to get in contact with girls in attendance. These ladies did an excellent job of showing their skill sets. From dazzling finishes to dynamic passes, coaches were pleased with the product they saw on the floor.
This event matched up some highly-touted girls against each other in a showcase format. After Saturday, some girl’s stocks are sure to rise after the performance they put on. The competition was at a premium and this event definitely raised the bar for more showcase events in the state to come. From ranked players to watch list prospects, these ladies balled out for those to see. Here are some takeaways from the event.
Top Performers
Imari Berry Imari Berry 5'10" | SG Clarksville | 2024 State TN (5’10/ CG/ 2024/Clarksville)– Ahead of her class for sure, Imari is so fluid with the ball at her fingertips. This highly-touted stud out of Clarksville has a very high IQ when it comes to the game of basketball. She sees the floor well, distributes beautifully, and anticipates like a vet. The ceiling is high for this young lady and she is just getting started. Offensively, Imari can attack gaps to get to the rim, shoot the ball at a high clip, and distribute the ball on time to teammates. Defensively, she is a go-getter and reads plays well, which enables her the opportunity to get a lot of steals and tip balls. This girl has a bright future and is ranked as one of the top 2024 girls in the state of TN.
Marisa Wirtz (5’11/ PG/ 2022/ Station Camp)– A beast with the ball. She is a playmaker who can create space for herself or free up opportunities for others. She is crazy in the pick n’ roll game, where she can dish as well as come off and shoot. She plays the game with confidence and swag, displaying a passion that is infectious amongst anyone playing with her. She has a nice stroke that enables her to shoot consistently from anywhere. Defensively, she is scrappy. She wants to guard the best because she wants to be the best. This kid is special and someone to keep tabs on.
Sierra Steadman Sierra Steadman 6'1" | SG Spring Hill | 2021 State TN (6’1/ SF/ 2021 Spring Hill)– Long and lanky, this 6’1 SF is very athletic. She sees the floor well and knows when to attack or pull up for a jumper. Her game is the mid-range area, but she can bang with the big girls too. She can handle the ball well, creating matchups and other opportunities for teammates. She will be attending Freed-Hardeman next year and they most certainly got a steal in her.
Emiyah Cobb Emiyah Cobb 5'10" | CG Clarksville Northwest | 2023 State TN (5’7/ CG/ 2023/Clarksville Northwest)– Very deceptive. She is quick and has the ability to change speeds in an instant. Emiyah is a slashing guard who can shoot the ball well beyond the arc. Her forte is getting into the lane to make plays. That could be shooting the mid-range or dishing the ball. Either way, this girl is incredible when on the hardwood. Defensively, she is scrappy. Look for her to turn a lot of heads for years to come.
Mackenzie Bremer ( 5’11/ SF/ 2023/ Alcoa)– From the watch list to the top 150, this East Tennessee girl is creating a buzz with her play. From shooting deep, having a nice mid-range game, to doing the little things down low, Mak is on the up and up. Defensive, she creates havoc by being in the passing lanes and getting tip balls. She contributes on the boards and starts fast-break transitions. She is a kid who excels at multiple facets of the game. Look for her to be on some coach’s radars this upcoming season.
Alana Eakle Alana Eakle 5'10" | PF Westmoreland | 2022 State TN (5’10/SG/ 2022/ Westmoreland)– Blessed with great size and a smoother jumper, this small town young lady loves to compete. From taking it to the hole to pulling from deep, this young lady is incredibly offensive. She is a smart player who doesn’t force many things at all. From distributing the ball to finishing at the rim, she is amazing when on the floor. Defensively, she is in your face. She hustles. Competes. She does the little things to get the ball back. She’s a grinder who loves to put on a show. D1 coaches will be all over this kid.
Sleepers
Kaitlyn Lorenzi ( 5’8/ SF/ 2022/ Brentwood)– Beyond the arc is her friend. This young lady from Brentwood can shoot the ball from downtown. She has a quick first step that allows her to be a threat in the mid-range. Defensively, she excels on the end of the floor. She anticipates well, pokes balls out from opponents, and blocks shots. She contributes heavily in the rebound game, where she seems to always be in the right spot at the right time. Look for her to make a huge impact this travel ball season.
Annalise Malone (6’0/ C/ 2022/ Lincoln County)– Versatile big who can play inside and out. She is very nice around the painted area where she can unleash multiple moves to get to the cup. She really knows how to bury her opponent down low, create a high percentage advantage. She also has the ability to step out and shoot the three-ball consistently. Defensively, she has great footwork. She can defend multiple positions leading to more offensive positions. She is a beast on the boards and really is an anchor down low for her club.
Brielle Turner (5’8/ SG/ 2023/ Seymour)– High motor kid who contributes on both sides of the ball. Offensively, Brielle is a threat with the ball in her hands. She can shoot the 3 ball, get to the rim, and distribute to the post, making it easy for them to score. Defensively, she gets a lot of steals, blocks, shots, and contributes on the boards. She is a tough kid with a high IQ. Look for her to get even better with more court time and opportunities.
Anna-Catherine Whitehead (5’9/ CG/ 2022/ Collinwood)– Combo guard that can get to the rim, this girl plays with a chip on her shoulder. She is tough, competitive, and plays the game as her life depends on it. She can shoot the ball well from all 3 levels, distributes the ball on time, and is a floor general, conducting the offense with poise. Defensively, she plays in your face, creating turnover opportunities. This kid is nice and when the lights come on, she is always ready.
Elizabeth Nelson (6’0/SF/ 2022/ Oakland)– Built with great size, Beth is a tremendous talent. She can defend down low or step out and defend guards. From blocking shots to controlling boards, she can even start a transition break for her club. On the offensive end, she is money from the mid-range area. Corner shots, elbow shots, that’s where she can make a living. She has the ability to step out and shoot the 3 ball at a consistent clip and also bang down low. This kid just keeps getting better, coaches will be taking notice for sure this upcoming travel ball season.
Future Prospects
Laura Nichols Laura Nichols 5'8" | SF Creek Wood | 2023 State TN (5’9/SG/ 2024/ Creekwood)– This lefty has an amazing stroke. This young lady is tough with the ball in her hands. She can shoot the ball at a high clip from all 3 levels. She can attack gaps and finish at the rim. Offensively, she creates mismatches where she exploits them to create opportunities for herself and her teammates. Defensively, she plays pressure basketball, creating turnover which leads to breaks going the other way. Look for her to turn some heads as she gains more court time and opportunities to play in front of collegiate coaches.
Alonna Poole Alonna Poole 5'11" | SF Oakland | 2024 State TN ( 5’11/CG/2024/ Stewart’s Creek)– Blessed with size and speed, this young lady is tough. She is quick with the ball in her hands. Plays the game with a high IQ. She can get to the rim, finish in the mid-range area, and knock down the 3 ball. Her length creates havoc defensively, where she picks up the length of the floor. Though she may be young, this kid has all the intangibles to become an all-star in this state. Look for her to receive plenty of offers throughout her HS career.
Alaina Schroeder (5’7/ SG/ 2024/ Powell)– Poised with the ball in her hands, this young lady always seems to make the right decisions. From dialing it from deep, taking it to the rim, distributing the ball, this kid has talent. She has a quick first step that allows her to get past defenders. What is really impressive is that she can finish with either hand at the rim going against girls that are older and more experienced. She isn’t afraid and loves to be challenged. She is a gym rat who is a hard worker that will excel at the next level.
