It was a great environment and I think more teams will jump on the train as years come. The level of play at the 14U division was exceptional. I saw teams execute their offense and plays really well, I also saw teams that have players with super high basketball IQs. On the defensive end, girls were sliding their feet and getting to the rights spots at the right time.
The summer before high school is an important time for girls basketball. It’s a time where you see girls start to increase their level of play. Coaches start to expect a lot out of their players and they start to mature both on and off the court. The big take-away from this weekend is that there are some really good girls out there from the 2025 class.
Here is the All Tournament team:
Nataya Donaldson – Wisconsin Impact 2026 Nikolic
The 5’8 guard was one of my favorite kids to watch this weekend. She’s calm, cool and collected on the court but can take anyone, I mean anyone, one on one, and she’s only in 7th grade. I was shocked! I love her game because she doesn’t do too much or force anything. She uses her body and foot speed to get to the rack. She can attack going both ways and was really good at creating contact that would usually result in an and-one play. Not only can she get to the hoop she can also shoot the ball well from beyond the arc. In one of the games Saturday, I think she scored 7 straight points to help her team get the win after being down by 3. You’re going to like this kid, watch out for her!
Addison Baumgart – Wisconsin Blizzard 2025 Baumgart
The 5’11 guard/forward can do it all. She has a great body stature that allows her to play both the guard and the forward position. She’s got light quick feet and has really good speed for her size. Baumgart shot the ball really well from the three-point line, she got to the hoop with ease and was able to steal the ball and finish easy fast break layups. To me she looks like she could be successful at the next level (college) based on the things I saw this weekend. She’s got the IT factor, there’s just something about her that puts her above the rest. She’s scrappy on D, a fierce competitor, the team leader, and she’s got court swag. I expect her to grow quite a bit in the next couple years, and once she gets stronger it’s a wrap for all the defenders that have to guard her.
Georgia Acompanado – Wisconsin Shooters 2025 Yow
Acompanado is a 5’6 point guard who impressed me from the jump. She is the leader on the team and her teammates look to get her the ball. She controlled the pace of the game for the team and was the decision maker. I saw her break the press by herself every single time down the floor. She’s got great handles and really good court vision that helps her gets past multiple defenders. The point guard has a really nice hesitation when she attacks, and a nice eurostep in transition. She’s so good at going down hill when she drives. Acompanado plays a smart game; after she beats her a defender a few times and they give her space, she’ll splash a three in their face. The ceiling is really really high for this kid!
Maliyah White – The City 2025 Black
White is a 5’7 combo guard that plays with a maturity way above her age. She played a huge role in the success of The City this weekend, where they went undefeated and won the Legacy Region Finals championship. I call her a combo guard because she plays three different positions. Normally she would play the 3 to start the game, but with the injury of their point guard she stepped in and played the 1 this weekend. White is a multi-dimensional player who can do it all. She’s quick on the transition fast break. She can attack you off the bounce and get to the rim. She’s very active on offense where she’s good at cutting in front of her defender to get an easy bucket. Lets just say if you’re on her team you want the ball in her hands, because she consistently makes the right decisions. She’s a player that is ready to lead a very good varsity team next near. Look out for her to make noise in high school.
Mia Racine – Team 1848 2025
Racine, the 5’11 post, also caught my eye from the jump. She was aggressive on both ends of the floor. On offense she looks to post up on the block and is really strong down low. She holds her seal really well and her footwork going both ways is excellent. She’s got a nice move when she spins back into the lane or when she does her drop step. She scored a lot of her points getting offensive rebounds and put backs. She’s the definition of a workhorse, she will do what it takes to get the ball back including diving on the floor for lose balls. On defense she cleaned up everything down low for her team, by blocking shots and sliding over on help side when her teammates got beat. She has the body and skill to play at the next level for sure.
Second team coming next!
