Here are the Sunday standouts from the final day at the Music City Showdown.
Aubrey Padgett (So./SG/ Tennessee Sol Black)- The 5’8 Rossview product from Clarksville lit it up from downtown at the event. From pull up jumpers to coming off screens, Aubrey showcased her offensive skill set. She displayed confidence as she got hot throughout the course of the game. This sharpshooter was clearly on fire and helped lead her team to a victory. Aubrey possesses a nice shooters touch. She can handle the ball well, distributes to the post efficiently, and knows how to relocate, creating that post to guard tandem. She plays defensively well and contributes on the boards effectively. Look for this young lady’s stock to rise throughout the summer.
Jheveon Meade (So./ C/ OTP)– This young lady from Franklin Co. (KY) was a beast down low. She created a presence on both offense and defense. Defensively, she controlled the boards, deterred any high percentage shots, and was vocal, communicating with teammates to let them know if a pick was coming. Offensively, she displayed great footwork that allowed her to get high percentages buckets around the paint. She had a nice mid-range game and was clutch in shooting free throws down the stretch. Look for Ms. Meade to take huge strides this summer with a talented OTP program. She is someone to keep your eye on.
Diamond Office (So./ PF/ South Georgia Angels)– The 6’1 Tift Co. product is long and rangy. She runs the floor well and is a defensive enforcer. Diamond is a shot blocker who knows how to protect the basket. Offensively, she has a nice mid-range game and uses her body well when displaying back-to-the-basket moves. As she gains more experience playing, look for her to be on the radar of some college programs. Her size, athleticism, and ability to get up and down the floor will be key traits college recruiters will notice right away in her.
Alicia Sims (So./ PG/ South Georgia Angels)- The energizer bunny. She plays the game of basketball with so much passion. She is a defensive juggernaut with her 5’6 frame. She takes pride in her defensive abilities, eliminating the opponent’s best player. She has a nice mid-range game offensively, and handles the ball well. Alicia will be someone to keep your eye on as she gains more experience on the travel ball circuit.
Alyssa Lindsey (Jr./SG/ EAB Tennessee Gold 2022)- The 5’6 SG plays the game with a chip on her shoulder. She is a hustler who can do it all for her ball club. Her #1 attribute is her speed, which enables her the opportunity to take advantage of many types of situations that may come up. From poking balls away leading to easy buckets to driving to the paint to either finish at the rim or hit an open teammate, this Central Hardin product from Kentucky is a hidden gem. Alyssa can fill it up from beyond the arc. She has a great floater game that compliments her ability to shoot the mid-range shot. Defensively, that’s her pride and joy. She loves doing the little things to create turnovers. Look for her to take the next step and jump on some collegiate radars this upcoming travel ball season.
Tyra Tanner (So./ CG/ EAB Tennessee Gold 2023)– The 5’7 guard from Cleveland is just now coming into her own. She is a speedy kid (track star) who uses her speed to her advantage. She shoots the ball well from beyond the arc, but her bread and butter is the mid-range game and getting to the rim. Tyra defensively is a lockdown defender who likes to get in her opponent’s face. She will pick up full court, leaving her opponent little chance to breath. New to the travel ball scene, she is on an upward trajectory as she gains more experience.
