There was so much talent and potential with this younger group at the PGH Champions Challenge that it will take many posts to cover everyone that is deserving. I will mention prospects that stood out. Standing out as a prospect can mean many things in the scouting world. Standing out is a lot about performance on the court but it isn’t the only thing — especially for a younger prospect. With the 14U group, there needs to be a projection of a prospect as they go on into their high school years. So physical traits like height and length are even more emphasized.
Here is a list of skills/traits that could warrant a prospect being mentioned in standout posts:
- Size/potential
- Length/potential
- Scoring
- Athleticism
- Ball-Handling
- Passing
- Shooting (3-point)
- Defense
Here we have three teams covered and nine total prospects. CBA-Gold, which consisted of all 2026 prospects had a true point guard and a couple of prospects with size. Wisconsin Blizzard 2025 Chase had a couple of high-performing scorers and a competitive team. Wisconsin Shooters 2025 Yow played great team ball, a scoring point guard, and solid prospects all around, allowing them to go 4-0.
Avery Blue – (5’4/PG/2026) – CBA-Gold – Avery’s point guard IQ is through the roof! Her understanding of point guard play at such a young age is impressive. She has developed ball skills already as well. Can handle the ball with ease and confidence and has very deep shooting range. Super quick prospect that has lateral agility that is tough to match for a fellow 2026 prospect. Has no problem staying in front of anyone.
Norah Merow – (5’11/PF-C/2026) – CBA-Gold – Norah made the list for her length, movement, and potential. She came off the bench for CBA-Gold but could round out to a solid prospect if things align and we see her at 6’2-6’3 in the coming years. So someone to monitor as she plays hard and runs the floor with speed.
Lizzie Thierer – (5’11/C/2026) – CBA-Gold – A true center that does all of her damage near the hoop on the right side. Has a strong built frame for a 2026, standing at 5’11 as well. A strong rebounder, especially on the offensive boards.
Emily Vogel – (5’8/SG-Wing/2025) – Wisconsin Blizzard 2025 Chase –
Emily is a lefty guard/wing with some solid size/length and scoring ability. Very aggressive and relentless attacker, always putting pressure on the defense. She goes hard off the dribble and will pull a three without hesitation. Uses her length well with high hands, trying to make deflections.
Hailee Bauer – (5’5/CG/2025) – Wisconsin Blizzard 2025 Chase – Hailee is a solidly-built two-way guard for the Blizzard. She can score on all three levels and makes turnover creating plays on defense. She has a nice and smooth jumper that flows well in one motion. Can get her shot off quickly. A skilled passer and overall has a solid skill-set with no glaring weaknesses to her game.
Georgia Acompanado – (5’6/PG/2025) – Wisconsin Shooters 2025 Yow – Georgia is a point guard that can score the ball. She was near the 20 point mark every game in the tournament. Very vital to her team’s success and the Shooters putting up some good scoring numbers and going 4-0. Has great speed with the ball in transition and drew a ton of fouls going up strong. Plays tight and tenacious on-ball D, creating consistent turnovers into fast-break layups.
Isabelle Freisleben – (5’10/Wing-PF/2025) – Wisconsin Shooters 2025 Yow – Isabelle is a great athlete with length at 5’10. Has movement ability and speed like a guard. Great jumping ability, giving her a rebounding presence. An active defender off the ball, anticipating passes on the wings and in the paint.
Addison Miranda – (5’7/SG/2025) – Wisconsin Shooters 2025 Yow – Addison is a solid guard that finds a way to put the ball in the hoop. A rebounder that goes after the ball and also comes up with 50/50 balls often. Always securing the ball her team. Very solid and sound in the Shooter’s trapping press.
Maya Edmond – (5’10/Wing-PF/2025) – Wisconsin Shooters 2025 Yow – Good overall size and an underrated playmaker. Makes the easy and smart play and isn’t flashy in doing so. All teams need a player like Maya.
