There’s the debate of putting together a team of top performers for the tournament or best overall prospects. I believe the teams below have a combination of those that performed the best and those that are more highly sought after by top college programs. The teams that won all of their games were given a priority. Especially those teams in the higher pools.
First Team
Alyssa Nielsen – 5’11 PF 2023 – Team Griffin 2023
If there were CO-MVP’s of the tournament, Alyssa Nielsen and Gracy Wernli would have been the two chosen. Alyssa is a tough matchup for a defender of any size. Alyssa is currently the #6 ranked 2023 in the state of Oklahoma by PGH Oklahoma and she showed why. She is a beast in the paint and can step and fade against length, making her tough to stop. She’s in the 5’11-6’0 range but the way she plays, it doesn’t really matter that she’s not 6’2 or 6’3 for her position.
Gracy Wernli – 5’9 G 2023 – Team Griffin 2023
Gracy is the #8 ranked prospect in Oklahoma according to PGH Oklahoma. She was one of the top shooters and competitive leaders in the tournament. One of the top and most consistent scorers, as her jumper was deadly accurate for the undefeated team of Team Griffin 2023. Team Griffin was dominant on both ends and Gracy lead the charge for them.
Emilee Fox – 5’8 G 2024 – SD Attack 2023
Emilee put on a scoring clinic at PGH Live. She was hitting fades, mid-range, and of course pouring in threes. She was one of the top scoring performers in the event and is why she received first Team honors. She’s a top 2024 prospect in South Dakota.
Mya Skoff – 5’10 CG 2023 – Team Factory 2023
Mya played like she was on a mission. She was attacking the rim with authority and with purpose, while also nailing threes all tournament with volume and efficiency. So she put up some good scoring numbers leading her team to an undefeated 4-0.
Brooklyn Harpe – 6’0 G 2023 – SD Network
Brooklyn keeps getting mentioned for her play and her rising stock. She’s one of the most improved prospects in the state of South Dakota and people outside of the Dakotas are starting to take notice of her. She’s become a dual-threat with her improved offensive skills, shooting, and killer instincts. She’s playing with a ton of confidence.
Second Team
Gentry Baldwin – 5’5 PG 2023 – Team Griffin 2023 – Gentry can control a game and pace as well as anyone. Elite quickness and ball-handling. Can stroke a three with ease.
Jaidyn Dunn – 6’1 Wing/PF 2024 – SD Network 2023 – Jaidyn showed a versatile offensive game, stepping out to 3-point territory and knocking down shots.
Ellie Magestro-Kennedy – 5’8 PG 2023 – Let It Rain 2023 Black – Ellie is an ultra-competitive point guard with extremely quick handles. She attacks the hoop quickly and ferociously. One of the more competitive talents and leaders you’ll find.
Ellie Brueggemann – 5’8 SG 2023 – Team Griffin 2023 – Superbly long and a massive 3-point threat. Really stretches and opens up the court for Team Griffin.
MaKenzie Drout – 5’9 CG 2023 – Let It Rain 2023 Black – A creator with the ball in her hands. Easily creates her own plays with the dribble.
