Continue ReadingAs we get closer to the most important month of the year for hopeful college student athletes, we’ll discuss some players with potential to raise their stock. If, springtime is for setting the table, Summer/July is definitely time to eat. This list of class 2023 standouts have caught my eye in recent weeks and seem to be playing the best ball of the year at the absolute best time. Rather it’s competing in Kentucky, Chicago, Hershey showcase or Jr nationals, we look to see them explode on the scene by the end of the summer.
Candence Johnson/ 6’0/ forward/ St. Andrew school/ bay state Jaguars 23”
Candence is a stretch 4 that loves to space the court and slash at a high rate. While, she is mainly known for her versatility on defense and high level ability to rebound the ball. Having the opportunity to watch her on multiple occasions I’ve witnessed a player ready to explode offensively as well. A willing passer, Candence is a great outlet passer which translates perfectly to her AAU team’s fast pace transition offense! Playing with plenty of guards who break down defenders, they must love playing with Candence because I don’t think i’ve seen her miss one pass all spring. The ability to finish very well around the hoop with both hands allows her to finish over and around taller more athletic bigs. One area that has definitely flourished from the beginning of spring, is her ability to shoot the 3 pointer, she may not shoot them at a rate but has been extremely efficient in recent weeks.
Anitsy Robles/5’7/PG/Bay state Jaguars /24”
Anitsy is a class of 2024 player killing it in the 2023 level. Ana is a very athletic PG that can score with the best of them. A three level scorer, she uses her athleticism to be an elite finisher for her size! Ana has a very In predictable mid range pull up game, she attacks her spots at full speed and rises up leaving most defenders on their heels or stuck to the ground. Another Bay state jaguars player who has truly improved her confidence from the 3. With a great handle Ana can break down her defenders in many ways using both hands. I would certainly categorize Ana as a score first guard. That doesn’t take away from her ability to pass as well, this pass weekend she pulled off a few jaw dropping one hand full court and behind the back transition passes that left onlookers in awe. Now Robles is still young and in the beginning stages of her development but we look to see her have a really strong month of July.

Rossignol is a throwback! She has the ability to do everything on the court! A fierce competitor who attacks the boards with vengeance at time, also as a feathery touch out to 19feet and does a lot of damage in the paint. Coming off an All-state all-ccc selection avg 23 pts 12rebs a Game for Enfield High school this past season. Alyssa has experienced the same dominant nature throughout the entire spring in her respective circuit . A talented mid range scorer, I’ve witnessed games where she has just been on another level from the competition! She is not afraid to use her tall strong frame to create easy opportunities. What I was most impressed by was her conditioning throughout. We are excited to see if Alyssa can add a 3 pointer to her offensive package, which could make her nearly impossible to stop and a prospect receiving high division 1 interest.

make up the states best 1-2 combo out of the class of 2023 in the state of Connecticut. An extremely strong guard she uses her strength advantage to get where she wants on offense. Amyah allows the game to come to her, and plays at her own speed. Never rushed, she is a joy to watch as a big strong guard making full court passes over the defense and dictating the pace of play by controlling defensive rebounds. At times Amyah may need to be more assertive on the offense end but her passing instincts will certainly give her an advantage at the next level when she will be surrounded by better talent. This past weekend “The Court” took home the championship at Hoop Group Summer Jamfest. Rosado was outstanding in the three games I watched, against CT Starters she rallied her team down by 10 points in the second half. At one point scoring 16 straight, taking on the challenge on defense and ending the game with 6 free throws down the stretch. In the semis she dominated Mass frenzy, the championship was a very exciting matchup against “Shooting Touch”, a game that went down to the wire, Amyah had another impressive MVP outing with 22pts 8assist 8 rebounds.
With more performances like those this weekend. Amyah will certainly be one of the names to look out for going into July.
