We at Prep Girls Hoops also made that same trip to the school that the Green Hornets call home. Here is a look at some from the classes of 2024 and 2025 that made a strong impression.
Iyanna Broadus – 2024 – Ridge View HS – Broadus has participated in the past in track and field. As everyone knows, speed, agility and endurance are just a few of several attributes that can translate over to basketball. One of many things to count on from Broadus is a willingness to never give up on a play, even if it seems certain to go in the direction of the other team. On the travel circuit, she has played previously for SC Hornets 16U team. Broadus came off the bench for the Blazers in its game against Aiken and provided productive minutes. She has a potential to give a team scoring off said bench in providing depth.
Aveion Walker Aveion Walker 5'10" | SF Denmark-Olar | 2025 State SC – 2025 – Denmark-Olar HS – One of the biggest assets any coach can have is a team that was one win shy of an Upper State final and only graduate one senior. It sticks out more when one of its star players will be entering her freshman season. Walker is one of those players that is constantly in the right place at the right time to make plays. And a number of those plays could be rebounds. Walker will also give a team a shooting boost from either the mid range of the long range. She is someone that also displays an ability to make passes near the rim in addition to an overall high basketball I.Q.
Ry’Naisha Barnes Ry’Naisha Barnes 5'7" | SF Denmark-Olar | 2025 State SC – 2025 – Denmark-Olar HS – Speaking of Vikings players that will be entering their freshman campaigns in 2021-22. She is another that gives coach Terence Jones’ Denmark-Olar team a shooting dimension to its offense. She came off the bench in Denmark-Olar’s game vs. Lower Richland in what was the second contest of six that took place on Saturday. Key to Barnes’ game is rebounding and it is one her attributes that give her skills of a four or five while playing at guard. Another of those is converting on high-percentage opportunities near the basket. Along with versatility, Barnes will do the little things, such as hustling for loose balls.
Chi’nya Isaac Chi’nya Isaac 5'8" | CG Lower Richland | 2025 State SC – 2025 – Lower Richland HS – The sole player from the class of 2025 on last season’s roster, she proved to be an important piece in why coach Aaron Lucas’ Diamond Hornets finished 2020-21 only one game shy of a berth in the 3A Upper State finals. Isaac can shoot the 3-point shot and make the 3-point shot. She made a pair of triples in the second half of Lower Richland’s game with Ridge View and two more when the Diamond Hornets faced off against Keenan later in the day. Isaac scored eight points in the contest with the Blazers. Isaac can also pass and distribute the ball as well.
Anasia Harvey Anasia Harvey 6'0" | C Ridge View | 2025 State SC – Ridge View HS – 2025 – The Blazers were well represented at the Summer Dreams High School Exposure. Harvey did plenty of work on the boards and came through with big shots in the second half of the Blazers’ contest with the host school Aiken. In that game, Harvey also entered off the bench. As part of the 2025 roster, she will be a name to watch for a Ridge View team looking to keep its winning ways going in spite of the graduation departures of Laila Acox Laila Acox 6'0" | PF Ridge View | 2021 State SC and Mya Wasswa Mya Wasswa 5'6" | CG Ridge View | 2021 State SC .
