Gabreyel Cook Gabreyel Cook 5'8" | CG Hickory Ridge | 2022 NC (Hickory Ridge, 2022) makes smart cuts to the basket looking for passes to score. She knows the importance of timing when making plays. She has a nice jump shot that she can use as well when she needs to pull up instead of driving to the hoop. She followed shots grabbing rebounds to push up the court herself. She would grab steals and be up the court with the ball before her opponents had a chance to react.
Lindsey Avant (Chestnut Park, 2023) showed off her shot from behind the three point line. She follows shots and grabs rebounds fighting for each possession. She sees the floor well pushing the ball up the court finding her open teammates cutting in transition. She drove the ball on fast breaks making nice moves to get by her opponents.
Tatum Bowen Tatum Bowen 5'9" | SF 1 Of 1 Prep Academy | 2023 State NC (Chestnut Park, 2023, pictured above) continues to show off her shooting ability all over the court, and she does a nice job sliding into the openings on the court getting lost by her defender. She makes sure she gets into position to score on fast breaks, too, showing off her IQ finding the weak spots when she’s on offense. She crashes the boards grabbing rebounds on both ends of the court.
Samantha Shehan Samantha Shehan 6'0" | CG Lake Norman | 2025 State NC (Lake Norman, 2025) is another player who gets to the hoop using some nice ball moves, and shows no fear of contact waiting for her under the basket. She was a shot blocking machine in one of the games making sure her opponents were not successful scoring in the paint. Her height allows her to be a versatile player showing strengths in many areas of the court.
Camri Hobbs (Chestnut Park, 2026) got in on the shooting action showing off her range. She knows when to make her passes to make sure her teammates can score. She hustles up and down the court preventing her opponents from scoring in transition. She already knew how to keep up with girls who had been playing in high school for years with her ability to score on all three levels.
