It’s the end of the road for the Dynasty Region, as Texas Platinum 2022 Bruce defeated Oklahoma Shock 2022 Black 44-37 for the Platinum Bracket Championship while Illinois Elite 2022 Diamond held off Illinois Inferno 54-43 for the Gold Championship.
From the games I saw, here are my picks for All-Tournament Team.
First Team
2022 5-9 PG Journey Armstead – Team Tulsa 2022
The best playmaker in the event was Journey Armstead. She dished out a total of 18 assists in the two games I watched. Quick with the ball, Armstead was able to get into the paint and create for others once the defense collapsed. Her court vision along with her rebounding and defensive instincts carried Team Tulsa to a 3-1 weekend.
2022 5-8 CG Claire Graham – Texas Platinum 2022 Bruce
Ms. Consistent, you could pencil in Claire Graham for double digit points and multiple threes each game. She drilled six threes in the Semifinals and Championship combined. Graham is a valuable combo guard that can both handle the primary ball handling duties or play off the ball and torch teams from beyond the arc. Her toughness and accurate shooting helped Texas Platinum 2022 Bruce finish the PrepCircuit undefeated.
2023 6-0 G Emily Fisher – Wolverinas 2022
The big guard was able to control the game without having to pour in a prolific amount of points. Fisher used her strength to get to her spots on offense and was one of the best defenders in the event, capable of guarding 1-5. When she decided to get downhill, Fisher used a tight handle and her powerful frame to rush past the defense. She stuffed the stat sheet all weekend as the most versatile guard in the event.
2022 6-0 G Milica Matic – Texas Platinum 2022 Bruce
When Texas Platinum needed a hoop, Milica Matic delivered. The Serbian was cold-blooded down the stretch, hitting big shot after big shot. She was able to create off the dribble and stop-and-pop from the mid-range. Matic’s size helped her get clean looks over defenders. Milica also made an impact on the offensive glass when she crashed in from her guard position, able to clean up misses and score inside.
2024 6-3 F Ariana Bullock – Illinois Elite 2022 Diamond
In my opinion, Ariana Bullock was the best long-term prospect in the event. Her mobility and length could not be matched. Bullock dominated the paint, swatting shots at an alarming rate. When Bullock cleaned the glass, she immediately looked to outlet to start the fast break, heaving touchdown passes as her guards raced down the floor for layups. Bullock impressed with her ability to slip screens and catch and finish through traffic. Ariana can play 3-5 and shutdown anyone that tests her at the rim. High Major prospect.
Second Team
2025 5-6 PG Destiny Jackson – Illinois Elite 2022 Diamond
Destiny Jackson was able to play at a breakneck pace in transition but also calmly organize the offense in the half court. No one could catch Jackson when she was on the fast break, collecting easy layups. The rising freshman was great in screen-and-roll settings, deftly maneuvering and hitting her rollers in stride. Jackson did a good job creating offense when she attacked off the dribble and her defensive speed gave opponents headaches all weekend.
2022 5-9 PG Alexsyah Goudeau – Oklahoma Shock 2022 Black
Shock’s runner-up finish came large in part due to their 1-3-1 zone that stifled opponents. Smalls Goudeau’s on-ball pressure and lateral quickness turned the opposition over. In the semis and finals combined, Goudeau collected 12 steals. On offense, Smalls beat defenders off the dribble and finished with pull-up jumpers and two-footed layups through contact.
2022 5-7 CG Maleighya Estes – Lady Unity
One of the most creative isolation players and best scorers of the weekend was Maleighya Estes. She had the ball on a string as she got to her spots in the mid-range and would sink jumper after jumper. Estes is a tough scorer that can put up points from all three levels.
2022 6-0 G Alexa Rubel – SEMO Sizzle
This well-rounded lefty attacked defenses in multiple ways. She excelled at getting to the basket and drawing contact. Rubel was able to finish with either hand and drew the attention of all five defenders when she got into the paint. Once the defense honed in on her, Rubel made good decisions kicking out to shooters. Alexa has a strong all-around floor game and can chip in across the box score.
2023 5-11 F Kree Nunnally – Illinois Elite 2022 Diamond
Not many forwards scored around the rim like Kree Nunnally did. She was strong inside, finishing through contact on post ups and put backs. Nunnally worked hard to get on the glass, playing with a high motor. Her offense extended to the mid-range and defensively she was stingy.
Third Team
2022 5-3 PG Amelia Solt – BC Denver 2022 Gold
There’s never a dull moment when watching Amelia Solt play. She had one of the best handles in the event and was able to get to the rim and finish with scoop shots.
2023 5-7 SG Ava Gugliuzza – Illinois Elite 2022 National
An elite shooter, Ava Gugliuzza made teams pay when they didn’t run her off the line on closeouts. The three-point specialist was also a savvy driver that knew how to draw contact in the paint.
2022 5-11 G Joy Bergstrom – Wolverinas 2022
The energy of Joy Bergstrom was infectious for the Wolverinas. The three-level scorer could pile in the points but also made plays with her nose for the ball.
2023 5-11 G Katy Eidle – Wolverinas 2022
Eidle proved she could be a scorer, playmaker and defender. Whatever role was needed, Eidle was able to fulfill it. She’s got a versatile game and was really good at getting to the hoop.
2021 5-11 F Liliani Krause – PLUTO Prospects
Krause was a bull dozer inside, overpowering opponents for rebounds and scoring through contact. She used her frame to her advantage and fought for every 50/50 ball in her area.
Fourth Team
2021 5-11 G Samantha Koeberer – State 38 Basketball
An athletic wiry playmaker, Sammy Koeberer used a sharp crossover to get downhill and create for others. Koeberer’s length helped her finish at the rim and gives her upside as a defender.
2022 5-9 W Zoriah Mobley – FBC Nightmares
Mobley was a strong inside-out wing. She could get hot from deep and was tough to slow down when she got a head of steam toward the rim. Mobley is a strong rebounder from the perimeter.
2023 5-10 F Karys Washington – Playmaker Express
The future is extremely bright. Karys is a tough forward that plays inside and out. She can bang down low and score with both hands but she can also push the ball in transition and pull-up from the mid-range. Washington has quick feet and can take her man off the dribble. Karys rebounds in a crowd. She is a mismatch for most forwards.
2022 5-10 W Josie Storey – Oklahoma Shock 2022 Black
JoJo Buckets is sneaky good off the dribble. She can make a quick move and hit the mid-range jumper. Her range extends out to the three-point line. Storey plays the angles well and can score in the paint.
2023 6-0 G Morgan Borgstadt – Oklahoma Shock 2022 Black
Borgstadt doesn’t need blazing speed to get to where she wants to go. She’s a high IQ guard that takes her time attacking the defense. She is capable of scoring at all three levels. Borgstadt uses her strong build when driving to the hoop and plays off two feet.
