June is a big month for rankings throughout the Prep Girls Hoops Network, and for the Class of 2023, it marks the transition from underclassman to upperclassman for those ladies entering their Junior years of high school. On the whole, the 2023 list expanded from 150 prospects to 175 prospects, and there was some movement throughout the entirety of the list. As it relates to the 2023 2-guard group, there are 43 ladies who have acquired a spot within the Top-175, and eight of them are new to the list on PGH Indiana. With a full Spring season “in the books” for the first time since 2019, it helped to provide more clarity as to who the better prospects are throughout the state. Below is a look at those 43 prospects, as well as some added information and analysis of the newcomers, plus a handful of additional girls who have stood out since our last rankings update in March.
Newcomers
As it relates to the Class of 2023, a 25-player expansion is part of the emphasis with regards to our Summer rankings. As we expanded from 150 to 175 prospects, eight young ladies at the 2-guard position are new to the rankings list this time around. They are highlighted below, and if you know them, I think you’d agree they belong here.
Emmrey Collinsworth Emmrey Collinsworth 5'9" | SG Westfield | 2023 IN , Westfield H.S. – Emmrey is a long, fast, and athletic wing guard who can get from ’A’ to ’B’ as fast as anyone. She plays with a nice motor, battles at both ends of the floor, and she can score it a little at all three levels, but she’s best attacking the basket. If she can be just a little more dynamic off the bounce, I think it would make her that much harder to guard. I do like her ability to defend.
Peyton Hartsough Peyton Hartsough 5'6" | CG Lakeland | 2023 State IN , Lakeland H.S. – Peyton is next in a line of Hartsoughs going through Lakeland, but she might be the first one to play scholarship basketball. Bailey Hartsough Bailey Hartsough 5'10" | SF Lakeland | 2021 State IN (2021) just finished an outstanding career, but she’s headed off to Division-I volleyball. Peyton is fairly strong, tough-nosed, and she likes to get downhill. She can play either guard spot, handle it some, or score at each level.
Maranda Mason Maranda Mason 5'5" | PG Jeffersonville | 2023 IN , Jeffersonville H.S. – Maranda doesn’t have a very big frame, but she’s long, she has that water-bug quickness, and she plays with versatility. She has a decent handle and can create offense, but she’s often on the wing knocking down perimeter jumpers. If she can get just a little stronger, I think she’ll attack more, and she can transition to becoming more of a traditional point guard at her size.
Ali Wiesmann Ali Wiesmann 5'10" | SG Center Grove | 2023 IN , Perry Meridian H.S. – I finally saw Ali for the first time in April, and she has really nice upside. She has an athletic frame, wiry strength, and nice length. She moves well in all directions and even has some bounce to her. She can handle it a little, but she is much better as a multilevel shooter/scorer. I also like the fact that she’s versatile defensively, and she plays with effort at that end of the floor.

Keep an eye on…
Giavonnie Belton Giavonnie Belton 5'7" | SG Pike | 2023 State IN , Pike H.S. – “Gia” has put together a really nice Spring season, as she has proven to be an effective scorer from just about anywhere on the floor. She’s always been good/strong attacking the basket, but now she’s shooting it more consistently outside, and she is starting to be more dynamic off the bounce. I also like how she’s willing to rebound, plus she’ll get after it defensively.
Savanna Bischoff Savanna Bischoff 5'9" | SG Center Grove | 2023 State IN , Center Grove H.S. – Savanna has always possessed nice skill and ability, but this Spring I feel like she’s looked comfortable in her role, and she’s been as aggressive as ever. She has nice length, a wiry strong frame, plus she can play either guard position. She has a solid handle, good awareness, and the ability to run offense. But she can also knock down rhythm jumpers or attack the basket.
Taylor Fordyce Taylor Fordyce 5'10" | SG Carroll (Fort Wayne) | 2023 State IN , Carroll H.S. (Fort Wayne) – Taylor has stood out as much as anyone this Spring with her improved play. First, she looks leaner and more explosive, but she is also playing with a real confidence and assertiveness, especially offensively. She has a strong, athletic frame, she moves well in most directions, and she can handle, attack, or shoot it from deep. She also rebounds the ball well.
Hailey Smith Hailey Smith 5'10" | SG Fishers | 2023 State IN & Olivia Smith Olivia Smith 5'10" | SG Fishers | 2023 State IN , Fishers H.S. – The twins have been outstanding all Spring, and I anticipate them to see a major uptick in their recruiting following the July recruiting periods. They are extremely athletic, tough-nosed, and active. They fly around the floor, make plays at both ends of the floor, and they affect the game defensively as much as they do offensively. Some polish to their skillsets couldn’t hurt, but they are game-changers.
