June is a big month for rankings throughout the Prep Girls Hoops Network, and in Indiana it’s even bigger for the ladies entering their Sophomore years of high school. This marks the one-year anniversary from when their initial watchlist first hit the website, and it’s the first time we’ve done a traditional Top-100 list without any type of watchlist attached to it. As it relates to the 2024 2-guard group, there are 25 ladies who have acquired a spot within the Top-100. Two of them are new to any type of 2024 list on PGH Indiana. With a full Spring season “in the books” for the first time since 2019, it helped to provide more clarity as to who the better prospects are throughout the state. Below is a look at those 25 prospects, as well as some added information and analysis of the newcomers and a handful of girls who have stood out since our last rankings update in March.
Newcomers
As it relates to the Class of 2024, expansion is not the major emphasis with regards to our Summer rankings. Instead, we are focused on taking a Top-50 list plus a 50-player watchlist, and molding that into a more traditional Top-100 list. Even still, there are two young ladies at the 2-guard position who are entirely new to any rankings list we’ve done in 2024 over the last year. They are highlighted below, and if you know them, I think you’d agree they belong here.
Ellie Falkenstein Ellie Falkenstein 5'9" | SF Silver Creek | 2024 IN , Jeffersonville H.S. – Ellie first caught my attention this Spring with her play at multiple grassroots events. She is a strong wing who also possesses nice North/South athleticism and a good motor. She strongly attacks the basket, but she’s also a capable perimeter shooter, and she has some defensive versatility.
Joey Rastrelli, Warsaw Community H.S. – I first saw Joey at the PGH Indiana Top-250 last Fall, and she was very intriguing. But this Spring she looks taller, stronger, and much more assertive. She has a solid handle and can play some point, she’s a good perimeter shooter, and I think she might still grow another 2-3 inches.
Keep an eye on…
Aubrie Booker Aubrie Booker 5'8" | CG Center Grove | 2024 State IN , Center Grove H.S. – Center Grove has a really nice 2024 group, and I don’t think as a whole they get enough attention. Aubrie is an athletically strong kid who moves well in most directions. She plays with a nice motor, she’s a competitor, and she can play both on and off the ball effectively at both ends.
Alexis Castator Alexis Castator 6'1" | SG Fort Wayne Northrop | 2024 State IN , Carroll H.S. (Fort Wayne) – As a 6-0 guard with an athletic frame, Alexis doesn’t look like a “typical” 2024. She is a smooth and fluid athlete, and it looks like the game comes easy to her. She has a pure stroke from the perimeter, she can break down defenders, and she can take over games at a moment’s notice.
Lauren Foster Lauren Foster 5'7" | SG Indian Creek | 2024 State IN , Indian Creek H.S. – This 2024 class has a lot of girls with nice motors, and Lauren should definitely be at or near the top of that list. She is an absolute scrapper, she is on the floor constantly, and she competes every single possession. She scores the ball at all three levels, and she always gives her team a chance to win.
Sophia Morrison Sophia Morrison 5'6" | CG Eastbrook | 2024 State IN , Eastbrook H.S. – Sophia is suddenly becoming one of the state’s best-kept secrets in 2024. She is a strong, physical combo guard with a nice handle, she really understands how to play and has a solid all-around feel for the game, but she is also a tremendous perimeter shooter with range beyond the arc.
Olivia Nickerson Olivia Nickerson 5'7" | SG Twin Lakes | 2024 State IN , Twin Lakes H.S. – I’m not sure if anyone has shot the ball all Spring at the level Olivia has. She constantly has opposing fans groaning every time she gets an open look. She moves well without the ball, she has a nice overall feel for the game, but she can also initiate the offense and make plays on the ball.
