There is a art to rebounding, you need to not only have patients but great timing as well. Most great rebounders will tell you it takes years of hard work to know where the ball is going and how to get yourself in the correct position. Here are a few of the top rebounders around Seattle who are doing just that.
Cassie Fiapito
Fiapito is a 5’9 Senior from Foster High School, who averaged 15.8 rebounds this season. She also added 13 points per game. Her season high was 22 rebounds, and 5 blocks in the same game! You do not get better rim protection then that. Her effort on both ends of the floor is unmatched, which makes her a dominate force around the rim. All of her points this season came from inside the paint, as she dominated inside. Also adding a season high of 6 steals she proved she worked hard in the off season and came ready to play.
Gwen Aasland Gwen Aasland 6'3" | C Mt. Si | 2021 State WAAasland is a 6’2 Senior Center from Mount Si High school, who averaged 14.7 rebounds and added 10.7 points. Averging a double double at any level is very impressive. To rebound well it takes a lot of energy and she has shown this season she has a ton of it. Aasland’s season high is 20 rebounds and 3 blocks, giving her team great rim protection. She has had a great senior season this year.
Katie Thiers Katie Thiers 6'2" | C Roosevelt | 2021 State WA
Thiers is a 6’2 Senior from Roosevelt High school, who had a double double season scoring 20 points and grabbing 12.9 rebounds per game. Thiers has had a very impressive season filling the stat sheet and doing whatever it takes to help her team win. She had a season high of 6 blocks and multiple games with 18 rebounds. Also shooting a high percentage most of Thier’s points come from inside the 3 point line. She bring a ton of energy to the game and you can see her teammates feed off that energy.
Kylene Filimaua
Filimaua is a 6’0 Sophomore Center from Northcreek High School, who averaged 12 rebounds and added 10 points per game. In only her sophomore season Filimaua has a season high of 20 rebounds 9 of those coming on the offensive glass. She will be another player to watch over the nest few years, she works extremely hard on both ends of the floor and is tough to go against around the rim. As her footwork develops I see her becoming a great offensive threat as well.
