The 2021 Nike Girls EYBL Nationals took place July 21-25 in Augusta, GA welcoming 32 Nike Sponsored travel programs from across the country. After a full week of games, here are the individuals from Florida that broke the top 20 in statistics from the event in the 17U division. You can find the full list HERE
SCORING
Janiah Barker Janiah Barker 6'2" | SF Montverde Academy | 2022 State #3 Nation FL 2022 6’4 Wing/Forward – Essence TipHayes 17U
14.7 Points Per Game (#17 in 17U)
Barker showed why she is one of the country’s top prospects – scoring in double digits in all 6 of her team’s games. She relied heavily on getting the free throw line, shooting 8 free throws per game. Her top offensive output was on Saturday when she notched a double-double vs Midwest Elite. She shot 10/17 from the field and 5/5 from the free throw line for 25 points and grabbed 13 rebounds as well. At 6’4, she was the most versatile player in the event, showcasing her ability to play inside and out and play positions 1-5.
REBOUNDING
Janiah Barker Janiah Barker 6'2" | SF Montverde Academy | 2022 State #3 Nation FL 2022 6’4 Wing/Forward – Essence TipHayes 17U
7.3 Rebounds Per Game (#7 in 17U)
Barker was one of the only players in the 17U division who cracked the top 20 in two different statistical categories in both points and rebounding. She grabbed 13 rebounds vs Midwest Elite and 10 boards vs Philly Rise. The combination of her athleticism, height, length, and wingspan make her an extremely impactful rebounder on both ends of the floor. She is very hard to box out and keep off the boards when she consistently crashes the offensive glass and is active on the defensive boards.
ASSISTS
Erica Moon Erica Moon 5'7" | PG St. Francis | 2023 State GA 2023 5’8 Guard – Essence TipHayes 17U *FROM GEORGIA
5.8 Assists Per Game (#2 in 17U)
Moon was consistent all week and was one of the top stock risers of the 2021 Nike Nationals 17U division. She played close to 30 minutes per game running the point guard position for Essence TipHayes 17U. She dropped 35 dimes in 6 games while only turning the ball over 16 times for a 2:1 assist to turnover ratio. She started the event off with 10 assists vs DFW, had 7 vs Midwest Elite and had 5 assists vs Philly Rise, Kentucky Premier and Pro Skills.
STEALS
Erica Moon Erica Moon 5'7" | PG St. Francis | 2023 State GA 2023 5’8 Guard – Essence TipHayes 17U *FROM GEORGIA
2.7 Steals Per Game (#5 in 17U)
Like Barker, Moon also cracked the top 20 in two different statistical categories. Her 10 assist, 7 point, and 6 steal performance to open Nike Nationals was definitely one of her top performances. Her 16 steals in 6 games were # 7 in 17U proving to be a reliable two way player for Essence TipHayes 17U and a steady presence on court serving as the extension of the coach on the floor.
BLOCKS
Amiya Evans Amiya Evans 6'2" | PF DME Academy | 2022 State FL 2022 6’2 Forward – Miami Suns Team Fowles 17U
1.4 Blocks Per Game (#6 in 17U)
Evans was a big presence all weekend in the paint. She had three games with 2+ blocks using her combination of strength, size and athleticism to deter penetrators attacking the rim and neutralize opposing post players. She is a high major d1 prospect who has a college ready body and can step on the court right now for most college programs and be an impactful shot blocker and rebounder.
