I know it’s way too early to look at possibilities for the honor, but really, it’s never TOO early. Today, we’re going to take a different look at the race for Miss Basketball in Michigan. Anyone can look at our rankings and chop their way down the top 10 in the class of 2022 and point out why they have a shot at being named Miss Basketball. But what about the players outside of the Top 10? I’m going to give you 10 players outside of the top 10 ranked prospects that have a real shot at being considered at the end of the next high school season.
Avery Zeinstra Avery Zeinstra 5'7" | PG Byron Center | 2022 State MI (PG, Byron Center)
Prep Girls Hoops Michigan Ranking: #12
Zeinstra is one of the best shooters in the state and she might just put up staggering numbers next season.
Alaina Diaz Alaina Diaz 5'7" | CG Hudsonville | 2022 State MI (CG, Hudsonville)
Prep Girls Hoops Michigan Ranking: #13
She was a key leader in Hudsonville’s run to a state title. Her leadership and willingness, and ability, to do whatever her team needs from her is hard to ignore. Honestly, Diaz is probably already in my top 5.
Brooke Daniels Brooke Daniels PG Macomb L'Anse Creuse | 2022 State MI (PG, Macomb L’Anse Creuse)
Prep Girls Hoops Michigan Ranking: #17
Daniels is a terrific athlete and playmaker. Her senior highlight reel could have a Miss Basketball look to it.
Myonna Hooper Myonna Hooper PG West Bloomfield | 2022 State MI (PG, West Bloomfield)
Prep Girls Hoops Michigan Ranking: #18
Hooper is a big time player that seems poised for a huge senior season. This playmaker could certainly move into consideration for the award.
Maeve St. John Maeve St. John CG Howell | 2022 State MI (CG, Howell)
Prep Girls Hoops Michigan Ranking: #20
St. John has had a terrific grassroots season and Howell has a strong lineup returning. If they make a run, St. John’s name will move way up in regards to Miss Basketball.
Olivia Dirkse Olivia Dirkse SG Davison | 2022 State MI (CG, Davison)
Prep Girls Hoops Michigan Ranking: #21
Dirkse is supremely underrated and those that know her game won’t hesitate to throw her in the mix. Trust me, she’ll turn heads next season.
Amanda Roach Amanda Roach CG Hartland | 2022 State MI (CG, Hartland)
Prep Girls Hoops Michigan Ranking: #26
Grit and fire are really solid selling points for a Miss Basketball candidate, and Roach plays with a lot of both of those. They really show on the defensive end of the floor.
Kendal Zeiter Kendal Zeiter 6'2" | PF Troy | 2022 State MI (PF, Troy)
Prep Girls Hoops Michigan Ranking: #27
Zeiter’s ability to score at all 3 levels and the fact that she’s one of the top rebounders in the state will carry a lot of weight. She has the chance to put up some big numbers ona really solid team next season.
Madison Skorupski Madison Skorupski CG Clarkston | 2022 State MI (CG, Clarkston)
Prep Girls Hoops Michigan Ranking: #52
Watch her play and you’ll see why she’s on this list. Skorupski has a really big upside as a prospect and that will show next high school season.
Ashley Bower Ashley Bower SG Portland | 2022 State MI (SG, Portland)
Prep Girls Hoops Michigan Ranking: #81
If you watched the state playoffs, then you know why you see her name on this list. If she leads Portland on another playoff run, and contributes to it the way she did last season, then it could be really tough to not to have her in the running.
