We’ll take a closer look at 10 of the talented prospects that caught our eye at the Bismarck Legacy Team Camp held in June.
Natalie Decoteau Natalie Decoteau 5'10" | SG St. John | 2023 State ND – St. John – (5’10/SF/2023) – Natalie was one of the most impressive athletes at the Legacy Camp. She stood out with her athleticism and court awareness. She has a natural gift for reading the defense and setting her teammates up for open shots. She never rushes the pace and knows when to push and when to slow things down. She played the 1-5 occasionally being the biggest player on the court for St. John. She has the ability to score whenever needed having a pure stroke from beyond the arc and tight handles to weave her way to the rim. St. John looks really impressive with her for the next 2 years.
Tia Nygard – Divide County – (5’4/PG/2022) – Tia is a pretty undersized PG, but she comes with all bite and no bark. She has a really quick first step for blowing by defenders and a great-looking shot hitting from beyond the arc. She ran the Maroons offense with fluidity being a real floor general. She has really good basketball awareness and above-average ball-handling skills. She played well against bigger guards being extremely aggressive when on the ball and having quick hands and feet for steals and deflections.
Ella Heide – Divide County – (5’10/SF/2022) – What impressed us more about Ella is her ability to play back to the basket or rip and go past her opponent. She has really good ball handling skills for playing at the SF/PF position making her a multidimensional player. She was an aggressive defender guarding the 1-4 multiple times successfully. She has average footwork in the post, but an aggressive low cross that’s great for beating defenders to the hoop.
Madison Rafferty Madison Rafferty 5'6" | SG Mott-Regent | 2022 State ND – Mott-Regent – (5’6/SG/2022) – Madison showed to be the most impressive scorer at the Legacy Camp. She has an incredibly aggressive cross-over that blew by defenders with ease. She can be a spot-up shooter or on the run. She showed a fantastic floater game when beating defenders baseline and really showed her range from 25 ft out consistently hitting treys. She’s a must-add to any prospect list being able to play the 1-3 spots.
Jacee Turcotte Jacee Turcotte 5'8" | SF Trenton | 2022 State ND – Trenton – (5’8/SF/2022) – Jacee played the post position for Trenton during the Legacy Camp, but really she’s a Small Forward at heart. She showed great skills in playing back to the basket with a sweet right-handed hook shot and the ability to step out and shoot the trey ball. She proved to be a handful for most traditional post players to guard having the ability to put the ball on the floor with some above-average handles and footwork. Jacee showed really good court awareness and strength being able to throw the ball with accuracy down the court to a streaking teammate and the ability to play bully basketball down low with some bigger post players snagging rebounds and using her size to create space for easy scoring opportunities.
