Continue ReadingI had a brainstorm, I’m always having them because I’m innovative, remember there is no me, and my ability to watch multiple courts was definitely going full blast at PBR Super 64, remember two very important hashtags, #ThereIsNoMe, and #TalentIsEverywhere no matter what PLATFORM you’re on, as long as someone is LOOKING at you so I said a mouthful, yet after looking at my notes, with over 250 teams, this is the easiest way for me to drop tons of players, oh the 2024 Updated Rankings will drop this week too. Keep in mind I’m omitting teams that numbers were completely screwed up yet here we go
2022
Layla Powell-5’0 PG/SG (Team Xplosion Black) Ft. Worth Christian HS
Powell has a nice pull-up jumper and did a good job attacking the rim from multiple angles yet her defense was solid, she applied pressure, “on ball” baseline to baseline”
Lauren Hale-5’11 SF/PF (Texas Elite Creators) Keller HS
Hale uses her size nicely, understands how to take the defender off the dribble, and finish after contact plus she did a good job on the boards, as well as defending
2023
Pina Kafoa-6’1 C (Texas Elite Creators) Timber Creek HS
Kafoa has the size, uses her body well inside the paint and her “hands and footwork” were nice, so were her finishes, with either hand. She also moved her feet well on defense and did a good job defending outside the paint
Merrick Lewis-5’7 PG (Prodigy 17U Bartee) Frisco HS
Lewis left a lasting first impression because she understands how to control temp, doesn’t force passes and handles the pressure nicely and it was definitely some pressure but she also handles the ball well and sees the floor
2024
Brittany Cato-5’8 SG (Team Xplosion Black) Azle HS
Cato has some pretty good upside because she understands how to create her shot as well as score in the flow but playing within herself is also a big plus as well as a deceptive first step to get by defenders
2025
Abby Norris (Supergirls)
Norris was the only player I remembered, she plays on another team yet they had others, names just didn’t match numbers so Norris attacked strongly as well as showed the pull-up jumper
Avery Hjelmstad-5’11 SG (Unity Basketball Hawkins) Edmond Central HS OK.
Hjelmstad is long and athletic, in case you don’t know, that’s the base for many college coaches profiles and what you add to that determines how much of their attention you grab and with her height, she’s just under “the magic number” which is 6’0, something else they look at, she can flat out shoot the ball, yet another plus but watching her handle the ball under pressure and attack the rim definitely made me smile as her upside is HUGE
Brandie Harrod-5’10 CG (Unity Basketball Hawkins) Millwood Art Academy OK.
Harrod is also long and athletic, but her handling of the ball, especially in the open court under pressure was very nice as she went C2C for baskets numerous times but when she spun on a defender going full speed, I dropped my book because she is doing some “big girl things” on the court right now
HaNiya Geretta-5’2 CG(Unity Basketball Hawkins) OK.
Geretta showed an array of moves while handling the ball as she simply finds ways to get to the basket but she also sees the floor well and as I stated early, I dropped the book, she did me one better as she CUFFED the ball and finger rolled, equivalent to dropping the mic on the session
