The event featured only two courts so it was easy to check out all the prospects along with a nice gathering of college coaches. I made two visits to Bogan Park to see as many games as I could. Here are some of the players that stood out to me…
Jada Bates Jada Bates 6'3" | SF McEachern | 2024 State GA , AOT, 2023
Jada is the first prospect that caught my eye. She is all arms and legs at 6’2″ and knows how to use her length. She can play and guard 1-5 according to what she told me she does in high school and I believe it based on the two games I saw. Random 5’5″ guards should beware of her in the paint because she does not look to emphatically block shots out of bounds, but instead simply reaches up and grabs them out of the air. Very versatile player that shot the ball well and crashed the offensive glass too. Will definitely be following her development. Her Afro puffs were on point too.
Haley Collins, Bluestar Orlando, 2024
Haley is a very strong and polished post player. She posts up hard and establishes good position, catches the entry pass and then uses strength and excellent footwork to drop in her baby hooks or up and under moves. She moves people around like furniture and has great size at six feet.
Arianna Roberson, Players First 17U, 2024
Long and athletic 6’3″ forward with quick hands on defense. She is very active defensively and uses her size very well to deter shooters. She showed great timing on her blocked shots. She runs the floor and finishes with both hands. She looked comfortable shooting out to the 3 point line.
Sidney Love, Players First 17U, 2022
Smooth point guard that really pushes the ball up the court and usually makes the right passes. Keeps her head up at all times and showed the ability to make perimeter shots out past the three point line, and she finished in the lane.
Vivian Iwuchukwu, Players First 17U, 2024
Relentess and versatile 6’3″ prospect that looks like she can play the 3, 4 or 5 spots. I enjoyed just watching her run the floor. She attacked the rim with a power move every time, creating the contact and never avoiding it. She has a nice touch in the paint and stepped into a transition three that hit nothing but net.
Sara McShea, Power Move 17U, 2022
Sara turned in a monster 20 point 17 rebound game in which she showed versatility and toughness. At 5’11” she has good size and she was comfortable handling the ball in high pressure situations. She attacked the rim aggressively and dished off to open teammates. Good all around player.
