Insider Exposure Summer Slam: 2022/2023 Ball Handlers
In this article:
Being able to handle the ball goes well beyond simply dribbling. At Insider Exposure Summer Slam this weekend, here were some guards who dominated the tempo and served as floor general for their teams.
Raven Preston Raven Preston 6'0" | CG Quality Education Academy | 2022 State NC | FBC Carolina Elite Mel | 2022
Preston (pictured above) has such a natural flow when she is handling the ball that you know she is going to go far. She moves well with the ball finding the open areas, and she breaks any press in front of her with ease even without help from teammates. Her awareness on the court is hard to teach even showing off a pass while she was jumping in midair because she knew exactly where her teammate was waiting for the ball. She anticipates passes well, and she uses her length to knock the ball away. She will be taking her talents to Elon.
Kaitlyn Walters | Lady Attack Elite | 2022
Walters is constantly moving on the court making cuts with the ball or finding the gaps when she doesn’t have the ball. She slides into areas to grab rebounds for her team. She does well knowing how her opponents are going to play anticipating moves and passes to cause problems. She create plays for her teammates finding them as they cut to the basket, and she can certainly show off her shot from all over the court.
Laila Anderson | Lady Phenom NC | 2022
Anderson moves quickly up and down the court filling the lanes in transition or pushing the ball up the court herself. She finds her open teammates for their own points. Her hustle is top notch as well. After missing a rare shot, she hustled back on defense to grab a steal in transition. Then, she pushed this right up the court finding her open teammate underneath the basket for a bucket. She drives all the way to the basket herself battling through contact as well.
Anastasia Sinclair Anastasia Sinclair 5'7" | CG South Mecklenburg | 2023 State NC | FBC Carolina Elite Meadows | 2023
Sinclair is so quick she can grab steals and push it up the court for two points without anyone catching her. This seemed to be something on repeat as she continued to do this to start the game on Saturday even leading to opponents trying to foul her to stop her from getting to the basket. She showed off her shooting ability draining some behind the three point line, too.
Laila Hankerson Laila Hankerson 5'6" | PG K.O.D. Skills Academy | 2023 NC | FBC Carolina Elite Meadows | 2023
Hankerson doesn’t let any kind of contact stop her from driving even when players try to grab her arm in an attempt to block her path. She even followed her own shot grabbing the ball and immediately putting it back up for a lay up. She ran coast to coast after grabbing a rebound finding her open teammate cutting to the basket for some points. She runs the floor well scoring lay ups in transition herself. She hustles after loose balls making sure her team has a chance to gain the possession.
