La’niya Simes | FBC Carolina Elite Mel | 2023
Simes (pictured above) was all over the court grabbing boards and being present in transition. She battled through contact on her way to the basket. She knew exactly where to position herself to get the pass and score. She seemed to always be in the right place at the right time, and I am sure that is not just coincidence but her basketball IQ on full display She did well driving the ball and pulling up for a jump shot. Additionally, she moves without the ball as if plays are designed for her.
Madison Young Madison Young 5'10" | CG Northwest Guilford | 2023 State NC | Lady Attack Elite | 2023
Young can shoot from anywhere on the court. The lefty does a nice job getting open to put up her shot quickly, but she always keeps her head on a swivel in case her teammates are open beneath the basket. She has a way of silencing opposing fans with her shots. She crashes the boards for rebounds, too, making sure her opponents don’t have any second chances.
Sarah Strong Sarah Strong 6'2" | PF Grace Christian | 2024 State NC | Lady Strong | 2024
Strong is very difficult to defend as teams have a hard time figuring out who should guard her since she plays many positions on the court. She is aggressive when she’s in the paint going after rebounds. Her offensive boards quickly turn into points for her. Many of her opponents seem to have to foul her trying to stop her. She can grab a rebound and take the ball coast to coast showing off a nice pass fake on her way to the basket. She is a nice shot blocker as well.
Kyla Mustapha | TN Pride | 2025
Mustapha did a great job crashing the boards and putting her shots back up for some second chances. She has a nice midrange jump shot, too, that she showed off using her ability to create separation from her opponents. Her range was certainly extended behind the arc, too. She runs the floor quickly being available on fast breaks, and she finds ways to slide behind the defense to get open. She was flying all over the court as if she was a magnet trying to find the ball.
