Throughout the course of this month, I have been providing daily updates on players I’ve seen the previous day. Some articles will include strictly Indiana prospects, while others might include other Midwestern or National prospects. Below is a look at six additional young ladies who I felt stood out with their play in the games I was able to see Wednesday at the North Tartan Meltdown in Minnetonka, Minnesota. This is the second July “live” period of 2021.

Brooklyn possesses a really nice mix of size, strength, skill, and athleticism. She has a strong, athletic frame, she moves well in most directions, and she plays with a lot of physicality and a nice motor. At the same time, she has shown the ability to play effectively at all three levels. She can use her size and strength to overpower smaller defenders on the block, she has good vision and the ability to pass the ball around the perimeter, she can knock down open jump-shots to 3-point range, plus she’s almost dominant in the mid-post.

Abbie has a lot of what college coaches want in a frontline player. She has an athletically strong frame, she plays with a tremendous motor, and she goes out there with a “blue collar” mentality and competes on every possession. While she may have been more of a rebounder/defender in the past, she is showing the ability to score the ball consistently inside of 10-feet, plus she’s able to put it on the floor from the mid-post and even the perimeter, take a couple of dribbles, and finish with layups through contact or short jumpers.

I’ve been a fan of Emily’s since I first saw her in April, and I think she has a lot of upside. She is extremely long, fluid, and somewhat smooth in her movements. She can handle the ball a little and initiate the offense, but it’s her ability to bury jump-shot after jump-shot from the perimeter that makes her lethal. She looks like she’s starting to put it on the floor more and create for herself or others. If she can consistently prove to be a multilevel scorer, I think she has the measureables and athletic ability to draw a lot of interest.

If you’ve read any of my writing in the past, you know there’s always room for a nice, feisty little water-bug type of point guard who just creates havoc for opposing teams. Bria had moments in multiple games where she took over for small periods of time. She has a dynamic handle, can change directions in an instant, and understands how to switch gears and get opponents off-balance. She can make shots outside, but it’s her ability to collapse a defense and find teammates, or score it at the rim herself, that makes her most successful.

Victoria has a great deal of upside because she plays with tremendous versatility. She is incredibly long, somewhat slender still, but fluidly athletic and smooth with the ball. She can play any of the perimeter positions effectively, she can handle it and create offense like a point forward, she has some touch outside, but she’s best scoring it by attacking the basket and using her athleticism to finish. As she continues to get stronger, I think she’ll become a more consistent shooter, plus she’ll absorb contact better at the rim.

Olivia is another young, big-time talent in Minnesota’s 2024 class. She has a very long, athletically strong frame. She moves around the floor effortlessly in all directions, and she plays with a nice motor. She can play either a bigger guard role or a point forward position, but she’s also strong enough at 6-1 to post smaller defenders on the low-block. On the perimeter, she can knock down shots consistently, she is a nice straight-line attacker off the bounce, but she can also change directions in traffic and create for others.
