It is especially fun, considering the 3 on 3 format provides a high amount of games each night for over 80 HS and College teams. This year’s tournament was won by Massillon Perry – as the host team defeated the #1 overall seed, Massillon Jackson in the championship game.
Here are some more of the standouts from the 2021 version of the league:
Ajia Schreffler2 Ajia Schreffler2 5'10" | SF New Philadelphia | 2022 OH – Class of 2022 – New Philadelphia
A rare breed in today’s game – a physical post presence who does the bulk of her work around the rim – Schreffler is a unicorn in the 3-on-3 setting. She is big and strong – physical and supremely athletic. Her motor is impressive on both ends of the floor. Ajia gets off of her feet as a scorer and rebounder. She also does a nice job of altering shots with her long arms and good instincts.
Mia Guscoff – Class of 2022 – Perry
Guscoff scored at-will throughout her team’s undefeated run to the championship. She didn’t necessarily do it at all 3 levels – but had no problem at all getting to the rim off of the bounce. She plays with a borderline-nasty grittiness that all good teams have in big games – bumping cutters, boxing out, setting good screens and getting loose balls.
Nora Levy Nora Levy 5'6" | PG Wooster | 2023 State OH – Class of 2023 – Wooster
Nora was the energizer-bunny for her super-young Wooster squad. She has smooth handles and has a pure pull-up that she can go to anywhere in the mid-range. Levy was constantly encouraging her teammates on the floor and did a nice job of going to get a bucket when her team needed one – even if it was extremely tough, over taller/more athletic defenders.
Alyssa Geiser Alyssa Geiser 5'7" | CG Waynedale | 2024 State OH – Class of 2024 – Waynedale
Waynedale was impressive through the entire month of June. Despite graduating some of the top players in school history – their depth was noticeable during the 3-on-3 league. Alyssa Geiser Alyssa Geiser 5'7" | CG Waynedale | 2024 State OH showed out – with a much heavier dose of scoring opportunities, Geiser put the ball in the hoop in a number of different catch-and-shoot opportunities, while also making the occasional runner or floater. She is an elite shooter of the basketball.
Andrea Maibach – Class of 2022 – Norwayne
If there was ever a candidate for a breakout-senior – it could be Maibach. She is an athletic big who block shots, rebounds and scores on both blocks with both hands. She can put the ball on the floor and go by slower defenders or bully smaller defenders. Andrea sets good screens and has no problem doing the dirty work for her team, when duty calls.
