Here is the first part of this weeklong series looking at some of the top players.
2024/25 Standouts- Part 1
Jaylah Lampley, 6-1 2025, Lawrence Central HS (IN)
This kid is at a different level in her 2025 class. Mom played professionally and Jaylah is on track to write her own ticket in high school. She is able to do anything she wants and plays above her years. Can guard anyone on the floor and facilitates the offense well. She has great handles and is in command at all times. She can get by her defender and score at the rim. Also a very solid perimeter game.
Lilah Turnbull, 5-5 2025, Chartiers Valley
Small guard with a big heart. She does play bigger than she is and has good body control. Able to penetrate to the rim and not afraid to finish with contact. Good handles and solid quickness, able to use it to her advantage. Runs the floor well in transition, like her motor and can defend on-ball effectively.
Jordyn Smoot Jordyn Smoot 5'9" | CG Springfield Catholic | 2024 State OH , 5-9 2024, Springfield Catholic
Great summer for a young lady who I have seen a few times, and showed a high level of play against the top competition. She was able to push the ball in transition, and she is able to get the ball in traffic with dribble penetration, scoring at the rim. She can create shots for herself and her team.
Sa’Mahn Johnson, 5-6 2025, Reynoldsburg
True point guard who is a legit distributor with very good court vision. Will head into her freshman season as one of the top 2025 in Ohio. She is able to penetrate and decide to dish or finish. Very quick active hands, able to deflect the ball with pressure on-ball defense. Fun player to watch.
Paityn Corthell, 5-8 2024, Monroe
She possesses very good body control as she pushes the ball well in transition from the guard spot, she has good handles and able to switch hands, effective with either scoring at the rim. Can get through the defenders and finish in the paint. Paityn has a good basketball IQ and a very head smart player. I love her intensity as she plays with a high motor.
