Continue ReadingIt’s time to start introducing the up and coming talent that South Dakota provides. First we’ll start with the 2025 group of one of the premier programs in the state, the SD Attack. Initial thoughts on the team is that they’re a great defensive team with a handful of prospects with good length and upside. The team also consists of a few high-end prospects that is consistent with teams of the SD Attack program. I was able to get to know the team by their participation in the Prep Girls Hoops Live Event in Council Bluffs, Iowa.

Ava Craven Ava Craven 6'0" | SF Winner | 2025 State SD – 6’0 SF/PF/C 2025 – Winner – Ava is a high-end prospect standing at 6-foot and is very versatile in that she can stretch the court and knock down jumpers. A very accurate set jump-shot.Quick enough feet on the defensive side, as she played on the perimeter frequently, easily staying in front. Her length and positioning helps very much as well. Attacks the boards and pulls down a majority of the rebounds for her team. Ava could translate at the next level into a wing with her length, movement, and athleticism. Really interested in seeing how her foot speed and overall quickness develops in the coming years. Development in her playing strength will be very vital as well. In summary, Ava is a great prospect to monitor with her length, defensive and offensive versatility, and soft shooting touch all over the court.
Madala Hanson Madala Hanson 5'4" | PG Dell Rapids St. Mary's | 2025 State SD – 5’4 PG 2025 – Dell Rapids St. Mary’s – Madala is a quick-footed point guard prospect. She flies around the court with her quickness and lateral movement. Showed a good offensive aresenal, including a pull-up jumper off the dribble. A good passer and court vision, that puts speed on her passes and can pass with both ends. Her ball-handling ability stands out as well, with her ability to go by the defense and release into the open court to find teammates.
Brynn Vanbockern Brynn Vanbockern 5'6" | CG Harrisburg | 2025 State SD – 5’5 CG 2025 – Harrisburg – Brynn is a sound and steady combo guard. Judging on her play, she plays with a good sense and basketball IQ. Sound defensive positioning off the ball and reads screens well. Has some good speed with the ball in the open court. Overall, good playing speed and ability to handle the ball and get to her spots.
Brooke Jensen – 5’11 SF 2025 – Vermillion – Brooke seems to have a college ready frame already as a 2025 prospect — which you rarely see. Brooke is a high-end prospect that translates very well to the next level with her build, size, and movement. Can shoot the three as a long wing that also plays with strength and toughness. Brooke can get out on a wing and provide some intense on-ball pressure without worrying about getting beat to the hoop. Consistently boxes out and rebounds with high-point and ball security. Doesn’t necessarily force any offensive action and plays within the offense. Great at finding the open teammate with an accurate up-court pass.
Addison Kleis Addison Kleis 5'10" | SG Dakota Valley | 2025 IA – 5’9 Wing 2025 – Dakota Valley – Addie is a long wing with some upside based off of her frame. Uses her length well to makes plays on D and play passing lanes aggressively. Active movement to get open on the offensive side.
Isabelle Bloker Isabelle Bloker 5'5" | SG Sioux Valley | 2025 State SD – 5’5 CG 2025 – Sioux Valley – A skilled offensive creator that can create her own offense. Shows promise handling the ball with a variety of moves. Plays with a ton of confidence on the court, judging by her playing style and fearlessness going at the defense. Is a knock-down shooter as well when she’s left open. Moves with excellent speed up and down the court. Sprints the floor to get back on D. Plays effective on-ball defense, playing smartly with her pressure and space she gives to the ball-handler.
Abby Mikuska Abby Mikuska 5'10" | SF O'Gorman | 2025 State SD – 5’10 SF 2025 – O’Gorman – Abby has some length to her and has the ability to hit an open jumper. Gives good effort in rebounding the ball and attacking it in the air. A prospect to monitor to see if her offensive skill-set can take a leap with her frame.
Kasey Hanson Kasey Hanson 5'8" | PG Vermillion | 2025 State SD – 5’8 SF 2025 – Vermillion – Moves with great fluidity on the defensive side of the ball and is a very alert defender. Has fairly long arms that she uses well on the defensive perimeter. Ability to handle the ball adequately enough to pass the ball on the move. Shows good overall energy and will attack the glass.
Lydia Yost Lydia Yost 5'6" | SG Wagner | 2025 State SD – 5’6 SG 2025 – Parkston – Lydia is solidly built and stands at 5’6. She’s a high energy player for the Attack. A solid defender that moves her feet well with the ball-handler. Lydia’s defensive game really stands out and is her strength when playing for the Attack team. She is a great team and individual defender that plays great positioning and will hold her ground with her strength. Great fluid movement on the court.
Logan Schmidt – 5’9 SF 2025 – Brookings – Logan got some limited minutes at Prep Girls Hoops Live, but has a solid build, movement, and some strength in the rebounding department.
