We’ve already awarded the All-Hustle Teams in the Classes of 2023 and 2024, so now it’s time to give the incoming seniors their due. These hard workers will look to cap off their high school careers with a bang, as you never want to leave anything on the court as a senior.
Let’s jump into the Class of 2022 All-Hustle Team, where we will break down some talented incoming seniors.
Kamariah Hawkins Kamariah Hawkins 5'11" | SF Yuma | 2022 State AZ
Hawkins put up some very impressive numbers during her junior campaign, and her stock should only continue to climb as she enters her senior season. The six-footer posted 17.5 points, 19.8 rebounds, 7.6 steals, and 2.7 blocks per game for the Yuma Criminals. Her consistency on the glass was impressive, as she posted a double-double in every single game except one, going 17-for-18 in that regard.
The hustle on the boards (19.8) along with her 10.3 stocks (steals + blocks) per game made her an obvious choice to not only make this list but to be at the top of it in her own tier.
Brooklyn Pablo Brooklyn Pablo 5'10" | SF Coolidge | 2022 State AZPablo had a terrific junior season for the Coolidge Bears, posting 15.8 points, 11.2 rebounds, 2.3 steals, and 5.1 blocks per contest in 16 games. The 5’10” wing had 11 double-doubles in those 16 games, displaying her tenacious activity on the glass. Like Hawkins, Pablo didn’t just get the job done on the boards, she was also all over the place defensively with her 7.4 stocks (steals + blocks) per game.
Hustle isn’t just about the raw numbers, but when you’re securing rebounds, 50/50 balls, jumping the passing lanes, and blocking shots to protect the rim, it’s a no-brainer inclusion for both Pablo and Hawkins at the top of the list.
Kaisha Henry Kaisha Henry 5'9" | PF Verrado | 2022 State AZHenry is a well-rounded guard/forward that plays at 110 percent nearly at all times when she’s on the court. The multi-sport athlete is also in track and field, which makes sense given her ground coverage and speed. The 5’10” junior put up 14.1 points, 10.4 rebounds, 2.2 steals, and 1.3 blocks per game in 18 games for the Verrado Vipers.
She will look to carry the momentum from her strong junior season into her senior campaign where she’ll likely be stuffing the stat sheet once again.
Keyla Cervantes Keyla Cervantes 6'0" | PF St. John Paul II Catholic | 2022 AZKeyla had an incredibly well-rounded junior campaign for the St. John Paul II Catholic Lions. The six-foot incoming senior displayed that all-around game through her ability to consistently post double-doubles and high-level stocks. She averaged 18.2 points, 11.6 rebounds, 4.6 steals, and 3.3 blocks per game in 13 contests for the Lions. Cervantes shot a fairly efficient 48% from the field as well.
The intersection of high rebounding numbers plus defensive impact stats (steals and blocks) made her an easy inclusion to the All-Hustle Team for the Class of 2022.
Abbigail Colquitt (Mayer High School, F/C)
Colquitt is an absolute rebounding machine despite standing at 5’7″, she has a nose for the ball as illustrated by her ridiculous 20.3 rebounds per game, which led all juniors in Arizona. She also posted 13.8 points, 3.6 steals, and 3.1 blocks per game to go with those eye-popping rebounds we highlighted earlier.
The numbers alone show how all over the place she is on the court, making her presence felt on both ends. Keep an eye out for the fiesty forward from Mayer.
