At the top of that list for Prep Girls Hoops New Jersey was the New Jersey Blaze, composed of talent from Central/North Jersey schools. The team itself is very balanced and has a lot of star-level talent on it.
We’ll be going to the tape to see what players stood out for us and what has made them exciting prospects to watch for the future.
We’re starting in the same high school for our first two players in this article, Warren Hills Regional, and we begin talking about rising senior Maddy Morgan, Warren Hills’ leading scorer in the spring.
Morgan is an impressive scorer and can score in a multitude of ways, most notably beyond the perimeter. Nearly a third of her scoring came from three-pointers and she’s one of the best shooters in the Skyland Conference for a reason.
We’ve seen her show off her scoring in a big way this summer through effortless dribble drives to the rim, open looks from the perimeter and strong finishes all around. Morgan’s senior season at Warren Hills is going to be a special one to watch.
Our next player from Warren Hills is rising junior Kelly McDermitt, a 5-8 guard/forward who showed that she can crash the boards about as good as anyone on her team during the high school season this fall.
Added playing time during the season allowed her to blossom in a versatile role which she’s carried over in a big way to the AAU season this summer.
She’s looked like a completely different player so far, attacking the rim with a tenacity seldom seen during the high school season and upping her aggression to a new level.
It’s been exciting to see her rapid growth toward what we believe will be a breakout junior season for her coming into the high school season in the fall.
The last player we’ll be talking about in this article is rising senior Anna Hansson, a 6-1 forward from Hunterdon Central who is someone we’re looking at closely for a potential breakout season in the 2021-22 high school season.
Hansson is a mobile and versatile forward, making fantastic plays at the rim and rebounding at great clip. She’ll be the primary forward for Hunterdon Central this fall, which secures a starting spot and is going to add so much confidence to her play.
We’ve been watching that level of confidence come out this summer as she’s broken down opponents on defense, showing off her impressive shot-blocking and rebounding ability.
Whoever will be playing Hunterdon Central this fall, you’re in for a rough time because Hansson is reaching her peak form right now and her ceiling is only rising.
The train keeps rolling when it comes to the AAU circuit and so do we, so keep up with what we’re doing here at Prep Girls Hoops New Jersey for the remainder of this summer and beyond.
