Continue ReadingYesterday, we touched upon the program that the NJ Belles have put together, one of the most impressive in the state of New Jersey.
Since we’ve already touched upon the 17U squad, one that’s going to make headlines for the rest of this summer.
From the 17U squad, we move over to one of the two 16U teams, the Masonius squad, which has a great mix of talent in Central and North Jersey. Now, it’s time to go to the tape to see what makes the players on this team pop off the page.
We begin our look with rising junior Casey Prior from Red Bank Catholic, one of two members of RBC on this team, and we’ll be talking about both in this article. Prior, a guard, is the perfect mix of everything someone would look for from the guard role.

Let’s start with her shooting as she’s got impressive range form the perimeter, but has a devastating midrange game that is virtually un-guardable. As the attention goes to her, she frees up space for teammates to get into positions to score on the floor.
Prior has excellent court vision and is able to pick up that in a split second and her excellent passing ability makes the play happen. Along with that, she’s quick on the floor and has great movement toward the basket when driving.
Her RBC teammate, Molly Kelly, is her compliment in the paint as she seems to live in the middle and thrives down low on the block. One of the first things that stands out is her off-ball movement.

She’s never just hovering in one place, and she consistently breaks down and tires opponents as she finds open spots on the court and open lanes to the basket to receive passes for an easy bucket.
Kelly’s agility pays off in a big way on the defensive end as she’s one to create havoc in the form of turnovers and forcing opponents into a bad shot due to her great defensive presence. She’s not one to back down on an opponent as she stands her ground and is a brick wall to get through.
The last player we’ll be looking at is rising junior Riley Giordano from Lacey Township, someone who is very active on the defensive end when it comes to steals. She’s got a knack for being in the right place at the right time, but it’s all by design as she has excellent court vision and awareness.

She’s a selfless player, always looking for an open teammate, and she passes the ball extremely well. Giordano is a confident ball-handler on the court, which very much helps to contribute to being a great passer.
Let’s not forget about her shooting ability as Giordano lives for the midrange. She’s got a smooth shooting motion and her height is used to her advantage as she makes a 12-foot pull-up look like a floater in the lane.
We’re not stopping when it comes to our AAU coverage, so continue to follow us for more as we continue for the rest of this summer.
