We found some spectacular talent across the board, but in this article, we’ll be revisiting the 17U team, one that is strong, yet balanced.
Let’s go back to the film and check out several more prospects to see just what makes them stand out as prime candidates to shine the rest of this summer and into the high school season.
We begin down south with rising senior Sara McShea from Paul VI, undoubtedly the best program in South Jersey in the spring. McShea was a crucial part to that team’s success, nearly averaging a double-double during their 15-game season.
Here’s another offensive rebound. Sara, keep doing the little things. 💪🏀❤️ pic.twitter.com/CUwn4WcLDZ

Her 5-11 frame lends well to the forward position as she’s someone who’s often crashing the boards to haul in a rebound. With six double-digit rebounding performances during the 2021 high school season, repetition this summer will be key to continuing that success.
She is a force in the lane, an immovable object on defense and an opponents’ nightmare on offense. McShea goes to the rim with authority, driving well and going up aggressively. She welcomes contact and is an excellent free throw shooter, so it goes hand-in-hand. If the summer’s a telling sign for the high school season, she’s going to be a superstar for PVI.
From McShea, we go to another 5-11 player, rising senior Faith Pappas Faith Pappas 5'11" | SG Pope John | 2022 State NJ from Pope John, a guard with a great three-point shot and a well-rounded resume running the point. Pappas possesses the maturity and poise needed to handle the guard position and she’s an absolute force.

Since we’ve mentioned her shooting, let’s talk about it more. Pappas shoots the three well, but also has great dribble-drive penetration into the lane to welcome contact or score a tough two.
She can shoot from just about anywhere on the offensive end, which allows her to get her teammates involved. Pappas goes from a great shooter to a great passer, baffling defenses as she normally does.
Include her lock-down defense into the mix and Pappas is a no-brainer when it comes to names to watch out for.
The last player we’ll talk about in this article is Cristina Parrella, a 5-9 guard from Northern Valley Demarest, one of two rising sophomores to feature on this 17U team.

Parrella rightfully earned her spot on this roster with her excellent play on the court, starting with great court awareness that she uses to dish the ball off to her teammates. Her passing is a massive strength and it shows on tape.
She’s quick and agile on the floor and that opens herself up to leading many fast break opportunities. Parrella is an extremely confident and poised ball-handler and it shows when she’s making plays driving into the lane. She’s going to be an exciting watch for a long time.
There are still many players to find and we’re still just getting started here at Prep Girls Hoops New Jersey, so continue to follow us for more AAU content this summer.
