Continue ReadingOver this past AAU season, seniors all across the Show-Me State made their case as to why they are one of the top hoopers in their class. After coaches were finally able to scout players live this July, offers came rolling in for the ones who weren’t already committed. They also showed me first hand why they deserved to move up in these rankings, so here are my top-five stock risers that I personally watched this summer.
No. 5 from No. 7: 6-0 CG Alexa Rubel Alexa Rubel 6'0" | CG Cape Notre Dame | 2022 State MO – Notre Dame Regional
Phenomenal offensive talent due to her scoring, passing and ball handling ability. Has an array of fine-tuned moves to attack the basket accompanied by an elite dribble drive. Knockdown 3-point shooter who frees herself up for multiple jumpers. Gets her teammates scoring opportunities in a variety of ways with her no-look dimes, down the court heaves and behind the back passes. Deadly crossover and hesitation dribble. Fluid rebounder and mirrors whoever she guards to force numerous turnovers.
No. 8 from No. 14: 5-11 SF Ashton Judd Ashton Judd 5'11" | SF West Plains | 2022 State MO – West Plains
Diverse scorer who possesses a wide-range of moves to make for a high-level scorer. Can pull up from beyond the arc and in the perimeter in an instant, forcing defenders to guard her tight at all times. Moves the ball effortlessly and always with purpose. Plays with an extremely high motor on both ends. Cleans the glass with ease and is a multi-positional defender due to her overall length and athleticism.
No. 10 from No. 11: 5-10 SF Jaiden Bryant Jaiden Bryant 5'10" | SF Incarnate Word Academy | 2022 State MO – Incarnate Word Academy
The 3-point specialist is not only able to score but fills the stat sheet with her rebounding skills and defensive prowess. Has finesse passing the ball in order to find teammates for an easy bucket. Defensively, she positions herself well in order to disrupt ball handlers to record takeaways and deflections. Also is quick to swat shot attempts down low with her aggressive style of play. This mentality means she also always fights for rebounds.
No. 12 from No. 15: 6-4 C Kyrah Brodie Kyrah Brodie 6'4" | C Rock Bridge | 2022 State MO – Rock Bridge
Incredibly commanding presence in the post as she’s a double-double waiting to happen with her effortless rebounds to obtain numerous putback opportunities. Carves her way to the basket. Dominant protector of the rim who gets in a quick rhythm denying shot after shot. Uses her pivot foot to create space and be a threat in the mid-range game as she can knock down pull-up jumpers. Keeps the ball moving at a fast pace from her post position.
No. 24 from No. 39: 5-9 SG Jordyn McClellan Jordyn McClellan 5'9" | SG Jackson | 2022 State MO – Jackson
Simply one of the smoothest players in the state whenever she has the ball in her hands. Incredible handle with a variety of dribble moves and has the innate ability to jet pass defenders. One of the top shooters from beyond in the arc in her class with her effortless pull-up rhythm. Doesn’t miss many shots when she gets in a rhythm. Moves the ball with absolute finesse and creates extremely well for her teammates.
