That is what I like to look for most when I am watching these girls play. Each player that I talk about below showed me that they wanted to be on the court. Diving on the floor for loose balls and hustling back on defense was this group’s M.O. I really enjoyed watching these teams compete.
2022 5’6″ #4 Kam’Ren Rhodes (Arizona Supreme 17u)
Kam’Ren is a solid point guard that has good decision-making skills on the floor. She is able to find the open teammate but doesn’t overlook her natural ability to get to the hole and draw the foul. Handles the ball well under pressure, can knock down the three-ball, and locks down hard on defense. Rhodes is an all-around standout for her team being the leading scorer and main momentum generator. Fun kid to watch play.
2022 6’1″ #23 Amani Hamilton (AOT 2023)
Hamilton can play every position on the floor when she is in the game. This makes her extremely competitive on multiple different levels. She makes sure to focus on the little things that help her team instead of focusing all on making a basket. Goes up and finishes strong around the rim with the ball and does NOT lack hustle. Amani is all over the court on both offense and defense. She very rarely let up during her minutes.
2022 5’11” #13 Sara McShea (Power Move Black 17u)
This girl really has the ability to see the entire floor at all times with or without the ball in her hands. Sara is a versatile player that can take care of the ball when needed but can also play big down low around the rim. She isn’t afraid to battle the other team’s big girl but can pop out and knock down the mid to long-range jumper for herself. Finds open teammates well and led her team in assists.
2023 5’7″ #4 Elise Hill (Banshees 17u)
Elise is an absolute LOCK-DOWN defender. If you want a 10-second violation or a quick tip in the backcourt for an easy lay-up, call Hill up to play defense. She gave it her all every second that she was on the court and is a commanding point guard playing up. Hits the open three but will also blow by somebody for the easy lay-in if they give her the option. Hill shares the ball the best of anyone that I saw in this tournament. She also helps her teammates get a good look to show off their skills, as well. Big time team player!
2023 5’4″ #13 Jahnesha Gomez (Power Move Gold 15u)
An aggressive point guard that can move the ball well and is a leader for her team. She is vocal on and off of the court helping teammates get matched up or into the correct position. Gomez has the ability to drive hard and finish through contact at the rim. She is also a very quick defender that uses her fast hands and feet to turn the other team over. Overall, Jahnesha is a hustler that wants to fly around and do what she can to get the ball back in her team’s hands.
