From shooting it from deep to driving through the lane, 901 girls are some true ballplayers. Players from the “M” town and surrounding counties come from good stock. Built Ford tough. Maybe it’s something in that Muddy Mississippi that triggers the attack mode these girls play with. Bluff City girls are fierce competitors. Always looking for a game. Always closing a game.
PGH Tennessee would like to recognize some breakout players that can’t wait for the high school season to tip-off. They’ve had an excellent travel ball season, where they left their mark and impressed collegiate coaches. Now, they are busy in the gym putting in that pre-season work to get ready for school ball. Kudos to all the girls battling the heat, running sprints on the track. Here are some young ladies looking to have a breakout year this upcoming high school season.
Alindsey Long Alindsey Long 5'6" | CG Arlington | 2022 State TN (5’9/ SG/ Arlington)– Dual sport guard who is athletic. Alindsey can really shoot the rock from multiple levels. She is a hard worker and isn’t afraid of a challenge. She has a quick first step that allows her to get into the lane. She can finish in the painted area against contact. Defensively, she knows how to use her feet and wingspan to her advantage. From deflections to stealing balls, she knows how to create extra possessions for her ball club.
Elyse Warren Elyse Warren 5'9" | SF Tipton Rosemark | 2022 State TN (5’10/ PG/ Tipton-Rosemark)– This hard-working young lady has a great makeup. Strong, quick, and agile, Elyse plays the game downhill. Her frame allows her to finish at the rim with contact. She can handle the ball and deliver timely passes to her teammates in tight windows. She has a great stroke that she can unleash from multiple spots on the floor. Elyse is a tough physical kid who plays the game with poise.
Makyah Thomas-Malone Makyah Thomas-Malone 5'9" | SF Memphis Harding Academy | 2023 State TN (5’9/ CG/ Harding Academy)– Smart and heady floor general, had a tremendous summer playing with Team B-Wright. The kid can contribute with or without the ball in her hands. She has good length and the ability to slash through the lane. She can shoot it from did as well as get into the mid-range area to display her jumper. She has great mechanics and incredible court vision. Defensively, she is a hustler who is patient and knows when to pickpockets or jump passing lanes.
Lucy Benson Lucy Benson 5'9" | CG ECS | 2023 State TN (5’7/ PG/ ECS)– Solid PG who knows how to score the ball. Heady floor general who knows how to dictate the pass and space for her club. She plays the game with poise, knows when to attack, and knows how and when to contribute offensively. She doesn’t force many opportunities with the ball in her hands. Look for her to come into her own and have a breakout year.
Sariah Conley (5’9/CG/ Melrose)– Sariah plays the game with a lot of energy and passion. She brings that Memphis swag every time she steps onto the floor. Offensively, she can shoot the rock from deep, while getting into the lane. Defensively, she is gonna be all over her offensive player. This young lady plays the game really fast, always in turbo mode.
Isabella Carlson Isabella Carlson 5'6" | PG Northpoint | 2022 State TN (5’6/ PG/ Northpoint)– Scoring PG who loves the deep ball. She can pull up or utilize a screen before she unleashes the rock from deep. She doesn’t have a flashy game, but she is a sound player who can get the job done.
Nevaeh Scott Nevaeh Scott 5'7" | SG Bartlett | 2023 State TN (5’7/ PG/ Bartlett)– This girl is tough as nails. She is always in constant attack mode, looking to score the rock by any means. 1 on 1, in traffic, against contact, pull-up, it doesn’t matter, Ms. Scott is going to find a way to put that ball in the hole. Defensively, she is going to create havoc the full length of the floor.
