Sunday, August 15th, I attended the annual IGBRR All-Indiana Showcase highlighting several of the state’s top underclassmen, along with a handful of current Seniors who remain uncommitted at this time. There was an hour of stations, followed by a couple of games for each of the showcase teams. As the Senior class begins their final year, below is a look at five ladies in 2022 who stood out when I was able to see them in action two weeks ago.

Jasmine has always possessed nice upside as an athlete…she’s extremely long, wiry-strong, bouncy, and she runs the floor well North/South. But over the last 12 to 18 months she has really emerged with an enhanced skillset. She is probably still most effective in the mid-post offensively, but she can push the ball a little in transition, attack from the wing, and she’s looking to shoot it more from around the perimeter to keep defenses honest. I also like the fact that she’s athletic enough to defend small forwards. She should have a much bigger role this year for the Chargers.

Kate is another player who has taken that next step and become much more consistently impactful. She has an athletic frame with some length, she’s a solid North/South athlete, but it’s her willingness to be physical inside combined with her perimeter skill that I think make her an intriguing, inside-out, small college prospect. Again, she will get inside, battle on the boards, and play physical against players bigger than herself. But she also has touch from around the perimeter, and she’s a bright kid who really understands how to play and move without the ball.

Megan is a sum-of-all-parts sort of prospect. She contributes in a number of different ways, and it can be different from game to game. First, she is a nice athlete in all directions. She plays with an outstanding motor, and she’s as versatile of a defender as you will find in Southwestern Indiana. From there, she can handle it a little, attack the basket, or knock down the occasional perimeter jumper when left unattended. While most kids find a niche and really accentuate it, Megan just does a little of everything well and always finds herself on the floor because of it.

Despite a setback here and there, Keegan has found a way to continue moving her game forward, and I felt like she easily had her best Spring & Summer of her career. She just looks so much more confident, stronger with the ball, and she’s playing with her head up, constantly scanning the floor. She has always been a nice athlete, with speed, quickness, and great length. Now, she is picking her spots to use those physical tools, but she is always facilitating and making the right decision. She is also a problem defensively, using her length and speed to frustrate opponents.

I mentioned Jesse the other day in an article about 17U teams, but on the 15th she was outstanding. She really has done a nice job of developing her ball skills to the point she is creating a lot of separation off the bounce. She is a very good shooter with range, but she’s a strong, tough-nosed kid, who when she gets downhill she attacks with confidence and absorbs contact well. I also like that she is gritty at the defensive end of the floor, and she’s willing to take on whoever is in front of her. I think she could be a really nice small college lead guard who plays right away.
