This article will be covering the first part of the Arizona 5A Top Returning 3-Point makers from last year. Hopefully, this will give a good perspective on some of the knock-down shooters to look out for!
Meisha Caserio Meisha Caserio 5'4" | PG Gilbert | 2024 State AZ – Sophomore – G – Gilbert HS – 29 Made
With a total of 29 three-balls made during the 2020-2021 high school basketball season, Caserio helped lead the Gilbert Tigers to a successful 13-7 record last year as a freshman. Not only was this her first time playing at the high school level, but she was also playing against girls that are going on 4-5 years older than her at any given time. Averaging 13.7 points per game while playing in all 20 games, I think it is safe to say that Meisha has outstanding talent. She brought home the MaxPreps AZ Player of the Game award five different times last season and I don’t think those will be her last.
Natalie Scherzer Natalie Scherzer 5'7" | CG Chaparral | 2023 State AZ – Junior – PG/SG – Horizon HS -27 Made
Natalie Scherzer Natalie Scherzer 5'7" | CG Chaparral | 2023 State AZ is a 5’7″, junior that plays point guard/shooting guard for the Horizon Huskies. She holds an impressive stat line that is above the national average in points per game, steals, blocks, assists and rebounds. Averaging 12.4 points a game and a total of 27 made 3-pointers, as an underclassman is an impressive feat for anyone but especially for being in such a competitive division. With the 2021-2022 basketball season just around the corner, don’t forget this name!
Leamsi Acuna Leamsi Acuna 5'5" | CG Flowing Wells | 2023 State AZ – Junior – G – Flowing Wells HS – 23 Made
Acuna is an incoming junior that will play combo guard for the Flowing Wells Caballeros this upcoming season. With 23 made three-balls in the 2020-2021 season as an underclassman, I expect to see her shine bright over the next couple of years with this team. Averaging 12.9 points per game, Leamsi is above the national average for other girls her age, as well as exceeding the average in assists, rebounds, and steals. Coming in at the 21st spot in the state rankings, she isn’t afraid to put on a show.
Marisol Jacuinde – Junior – G – Agua Fria HS – 23 Made
Jacuinde is a combo guard for the Agua Fria Owls that has stolen the 10th spot on the returning top 3-point basket leaders from last season, finishing with 23 made in only 16 games! She exceeds the national average in points per game, overall points in a season, and rebounds. With a couple of seasons under her belt, Marisol can continue to hone in on her craft this school year by taking it up to another level.
