Brianna McDaniel Commits to Texas A&M
Huge news on Thursday as Kenwood’s Brianna McDaniel Brianna McDaniel 5'10" | CG Kenwood | 2022 State #13 Nation IL , the #1 Ranked Player in Illinois’ Class of 2022, announced her verbal commitment to Texas A&M. McDaniel chose Texas A&M over Louisville, Oregon, Mississippi State, Texas, Georgia, and numerous other High Major Programs.
What ultimately led to her decision?
“I chose Texas A&M because I felt a connection with the coaching staff, even with there being a recent change with two coaches and some players. I loved the Veterinarian program and how they would have my Vet Advisory working along with my Academic Advisory to keep me on target to be successful with my major.”
Connecting with the coaching staff was something very important throughout the process.
“The coaching staff showed me how my game fit their style of play and how my game is similar to their previous Guards. The family atmosphere they’ve created with current and former players and the team’s bond with each other on and off the court really stood out.”
McDaniel is a strong Combo Guard who has primarily played on-ball throughout her career and has had success doing so. She is a talented three-level scorer with outstanding court vision and decision-making abilities. Brianna is a fierce competitor who doesn’t shy away from the big moments.
She unfortunately suffered a season-ending knee injury this past March, which also kept her out of playing AAU ball in 2021 with her Chicago Hoops Express team. How is the rehab process going?
“My rehab is going well. I’ve hit several milestones with my flexion and extension and we’re working on strengthening my quad and calf. My goal is to return to my high school team in December.”
What goals does she have for her Senior season before heading to College Station in 2022?
“I want to help my team at Kenwood win a City and State Championship. Individually I want to be Illinois Ms. Basketball and a McDonald’s All-American. It’s also important to me to become an even better teammate and leader and help continue the legacy that former Kenwood Broncos left.”
McDaniel plans to sign in the early signing period.
