Let’s start with some returners.
Olivia York Olivia York 5'7" | CG Cannon | 2022 NC | G | 2022
York will certainly bring some good experience with her ability to knock down three point shots which are hard to defend. She has a quick release making it difficult to try to stop her. On defense, she can pick the pocket of her opponents to take the other direction scoring in transition.
Trinity Mathis Trinity Mathis 5'10" | CG Cannon | 2023 NC | F | 2023
Mathis missed last season due to injury, but there’s no doubt she’s going to bring the same high performance that she had her freshman season with her as she gets back on the court. She reads her opponents knowing when to slide into passing lanes to grab a steal, and she can certainly deflect the ball away from players trying to dribble by her. She’s aggressive in the paint with her ability to score, and opponents should not fall asleep on her shooting ability from deep.
Maya McCorkle Maya McCorkle 5'9" | CG Cannon | 2025 State NC | G | 2024
McCorkle (pictured above) running the point position almost guarantees success. Her crafty ball handling skills allows her to find the gaps on defense, and she positions herself well to get the best pass to her teammates. She’s a scorer herself, too, finishing at the rim. She crashes the boards on both ends going after rebounds, and her quickness makes it easy for her to blow by defenders. It’s apparent that her vision of the court is well beyond her years.
Jamyrah Cherry | F | 2024
Cherry already saw a lot of playing time last year with her versatility. She can guard most positions on the court, and she is certainly a three level scorer. She’s had a hot summer shooting from deep. She is quick and runs the floor well making sure she’s available in transition. Her length allows her to deflect passes and grab steals that she pushes up the court herself.
Now, let’s see some of Cannon’s new additions.
Samyha Suffren Samyha Suffren 5'8" | PG Cannon | 2023 State NC | G | 2023
Suffren runs at a high motor every time she steps on the court. She moves well and quickly with the ball finding the gaps on the floor, and she knows how to create her own space as well. She’s a threat shooting from deep, and she battles through contact driving to the hoop. She’s a lockdown defender making it difficult for anyone to get by her with the ball.
Ashley Fowler Ashley Fowler 5'9" | SG Cannon | 2023 NC | G | 2023
Fowler is coming off of state championship herself at Davidson Day, so making another run will certainly not be foreign to her. She has had a hot summer shooting the ball from deep. She reads the floor well knowing exactly where to move her body to show off her shot, and she battles through contact finishing at the rim. She follows shots going after rebounds to extend plays, and she hustles in transition making sure she can contribute on fast breaks.
Lili Booker Lili Booker 5'7" | CG Mallard Creek | 2024 State NC | G | 2024
Booker is a full court lockdown defender who knows how to disrupt her opponents. She creates her own offense driving hard to the basket or stepping back to show off her jump shot. She finds her open teammates with ease creating space for them by drawing defenders towards her. She has a dangerous crossover that seems to throw off opponents every time.
