The 2021 Nike Girls EYBL Nationals kicked off this week in Augusta, GA. The event welcomes the 32 Nike Sponsored travel programs from across the country. We got a chance to check out the Miami Suns and Essence Girls Basketball 17U and 16U teams as they are the two Nike sponsored programs in the state of Florida. Here are the standouts from the final three days of the event.
2022
Kyla Abraham Kyla Abraham 6'5" | PF Smithfield (VA) | 2022 State FL 6’4 Forward – Miami Suns Team Fowles 17U
Abraham is all of 6’4 and super long and uber athletic! She runs the floor hard, pursues rebounds and wants to block everything in sight. She has a raw offensive skill set but super high ceiling! She has grabbed the attention of college coaches going from 0 scholarship offers to now holding offers from Miami, Auburn, East Carolina, Eastern Michigan, Cincinnati, Georgia Tech, Baylor, Oklahoma, Mississippi State, West Virginia, Virginia Tech, and Houston.
Janiah Barker Janiah Barker 6'2" | SF Montverde Academy | 2022 State #3 Nation FL 6’4 Wing/Forward – Essence TipHayes Purple 17U
Barker has come out strong and consistent in Essence first 3 games. Her stat lines look like this:
10 points and 5 rebounds vs DFW
11 points, 4 rebounds, and 2 steals vs Kentucky Premier
16 points, 10 rebounds, and 2 steals vs Philly Rise
She has been fun to watch early on, playing very active and hard on both ends of the floor and proving to be a hard match-up for opposing teams.
Sydney Bowles Sydney Bowles 6'1" | CG Woodward Academy | 2022 State #17 Nation GA 6’0 Guard – Essence TipHayes Purple 17U *FROM GEORGIA
Bowles also had consistent stat lines:
10 points and 7 rebounds vs DFW
10 points, 4 rebounds, and 2 steals vs Kentucky Premier
Bowles body is impressive. At 6’0 she has a solid build that replicates post players more than it does opposing guards/wings. She is a tough matchup and uses her body well vs smaller guards to score on them at the rim.
2023
Alancia Ramsey Alancia Ramsey 6'0" | PF St Thomas Aquinas | 2023 State FL 6’0 Forward – Essence Wheeler Kids 16U
NEWS FLASH – Ramsey is really, really good! She is BIG. STRONG. SKILLED. PLAYS PHYSICAL. Opposing defenders do not move her, she moves opposing players! She is a bit undersized but what she lacks in inches she makes up in heart and toughness.
Alaina Williams Alaina Williams 6'1" | PF Brooks De Bartelo | 2023 State FL 6’1 Forward – Miami Suns Team Larkins 16U
Williams has been solid for the Miami Suns Team Larkins 16U EYBL throughout the summer, coming off the bench as a spark to their post play. She has a strong frame, is active, plays hard on both ends of the floor. She can put it to the floor from the high post and score at rim off 1-2 dribbles. Love her activity level!
Rhema Collins Rhema Collins 6'2" | SF Webb(TN) | 2023 TN 6’1 Wing/Forward – Miami Suns Team Fowles 17U
Collins had an impressive state line vs the Alabama Southern Starzz dropping 10 points, 8 rebounds, 3 assists, and 1 block. Collins is a high-level athlete who has major potential. Her offensive skill set is raw, but she has moments where you go wow! She can put it the floor from the wing, attacking the basket and finishing high above the rim, Her vertical makes her an impactful rebounder and shot blocker, and she runs the floor hard!
Reina Green Reina Green 5'10" | CG St. Thomas Aquinas | 2023 State FL 5’9 Guard/Wing – Miami Suns Team Larkins 16U
Green came to came to play on day # 3 for Team Larkins! She got it done on both ends by attacking rim, getting to FT line, knocking down 3s, pressuring the ball on D, blocking shots, and active on the boards. The 2023 5’9 athletic guard has a super high ceiling and she finished with an impressive stat line shooting 6/9 from the field (67%), 5/6 from 3, (83%) for 19 points to go along with 5 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals.
Tyra Kennedy Tyra Kennedy 5'6" | CG Brooks DeBartolo | 2023 State FL 5’7 Guard – Miami Suns Team Fowles 17U
Kennedy played well in day # 3 for Team Fowles. She comes off the bench playing spot minutes and is a skilled guard and a high percentage shooter who can knock it down from deep. She plays both the 1 and 2. She plays well in transition and the half court and has a solid all-around game. She finished with 11 points, 2 assists, and 1 steal in a win over Team Elite.
Erica Moon Erica Moon 5'7" | PG St. Francis | 2023 State GA 5’8 Point Guard – Essence TipHayes Purple 17U
Moon showcased her all around skill set vs Kentucky Premier when she went for 11 points, 5 assists, 4 rebounds, and 4 steals v Kentucky Premier. She holds down the fort at the point guard position for Essence 17U squad, handling PG duties and locking up opposing teams ball handlers.
2024
Kalise Hill 5’6 Point Guard – Essence Wheeler Kids 16U
Hill was fire in first half for Essence Wheeler Kids 16U EYBL. She has a quick release and can knock it down from 2-3 feet behind the 3. She had THREE 3️-pointers in the first half and really helped space and stretch the floor for Essence advancing them in bracket play.
Danielle Carnegie Danielle Carnegie 5'9" | PG Grayson | 2024 State GA 5’8 Point Guard – Essence Wheeler Kids 16U
Carnegie is a big, strong guard who can handle the rock for Wheeler Kids 16U EYBL. She plays well out of ball screens, uses her body well to protect ball from defenders and can finish in a variety of ways. Her overall offensive floor game is impressive, and she is one of top 2024s I have seen. Her 33 points vs Kentucky Premier on 12/20 shooting including 4/9 from the field was impressive to watch. She followed that performance up 2 days later in the championship game with 26 points, 6 rebounds, 4 steals, and 2 assists in the 16U Nike Nationals Championship vs. All Iowa Attack.
