The Nike Nationals is arguably the top tournament in the country for girls basketball and a staple end of season tournament that attracts tons of college coaches and many of the nations top players. Boo Williams (BWSL) has been one of the staple NIKE programs for years even before the league was officially formed. They have been amongst the nations best programs for years. Here’s a breakdown of their quest for the Nike Nationals Championship crown.
Key Players:
Sylvie Jackson Sylvie Jackson 6'0" | SF Louisa County | 2023 State VA – 6’0″ – Wing
Seems like each game a new player would have to step up for Boo and it’s a good thing that they had the depth of rotation. Sylvie was pretty consistent throughout the tournament. The 6’0″ sharpshooter proved her worth from long range scoring 17 points (3 – three pointers) in the loss to the Alabama Southern Starz. She shot 37% from the field averaging 10 points per game.
Nyla Brooks Nyla Brooks 6'2" | SF Bishop Ireton | 2025 State VA – 6’0″ – Wing
Nyla one of the youngest on the team notched double figures in two games scoring 11 points against Cal Storm and 10 points against Alabama Southern Starz. She was tied for third on her team in rebounding getting more than half of her boards on the offensive glass.
Anjanae Richardson – 5’7″ – Point Guard
Anjanae had her best game in the win against Cal Storm when she notched 7 assists to go with her 10 points. she scored 11 points in the win versus the Miami Suns. She was easily the teams leader in assists and will need to tighten up her 1 to 1 assist to turnover ratio as she moves up to the 17U next season.
Diamond Wiggins Diamond Wiggins 5'10" | SF Norview | 2023 State VA – 5’9″ – Forward
Diamond had a respectably quiet tournament for the most part, however, her game against Cal Storm where she shot 64% from the field scoring a team high 13 points didn’t go unnoticed. She also added 4 boards and a couple of steals in the win.
Jamia Woolfolk – 6’2″ – Center
Jamia’s tournament was cut short as she only played in three games. She left her mark in the limited time averaging double figures in points and nearly matching it in rebounds in games aginst CY-Fair and Pro Skills. She shot over 71% from the field but will need to up her free throw percentage as it’s around 42%.
