Continue ReadingThere is no doubt that the class of 2024 has a ton of hoopers, and is full of players who have barely scratched the surface as to what type of player they can become. But, there are always a few that stand out above the rest. This isn’t a knock on the players who didn’t make this list, however, the following five players are the athletes who I think will show out and show to everybody that they have the ability to outperform the rest of them. Be on the lookout for these five girls for the upcoming 2021-2022 season, because you may be looking at a future star.
Ava Heiden Ava Heiden 6'4" | C Sherwood | 2024 State OR | C | Sherwood HS/NW Select
One of the tallest girls in the class, Heiden is a great post presence for her age. She has a tendency to block shots and take smaller defenders back to the basket and can finish with a nice soft touch down near the rim. Ava is a tall body with a great frame who looks to be a dominant force for this upcoming season.
Audrey Meek Audrey Meek SG Southridge | 2024 State OR | SG | Southridge/Clutch Players
As a Southridge high school alumni myself, I am a big fan of Audrey Meek Audrey Meek SG Southridge | 2024 State OR and I think has the tools of becoming a solid primary ball-handler in her future. She is already well on her way to becoming a savant with her court vision and ball-handling and has the capabilities of hitting shots off the dribble as well as a solid spot-up shooter. Her offensive abilities stand out to me because when watching her, you can tell she has a knack for the game and lets it come to her.
Nyla Cabine Nyla Cabine 5'7" | SG Westside Christian | 2024 State OR | SG | West Linn/Oregon Elite
A sharpshooter, Nyla knows her spots on the court and plays her role perfectly. a great catch-and-shoot player, Nyla can get you 3-5 threes a game. When her shot isn’t falling, she makes the right cuts to the basket and knows how to make her teammates better. Look out for her to have a breakout season this year, and has the potential to make an all-state team.
Danaeja Romero Ah-Sam Danaeja Romero Ah-Sam 5'8" | SG Springfield | 2024 State OR | SG | Springfield/NW Blazers
Very mature for her age and demonstrates a tremendous basketball IQ, she is a three-level scorer that can knock down shots off the dribble, or can drive through the lane for either a layup or a foul. One of the best overall players in the class of 2024. has a very fluid jumper that defenders should not sag off of, but is capable of getting around perimeter defenders at will. Ah-Sam has great hands-on defense as well and is tough to handle the ball against.
Mahogany Chandler-Roberts Mahogany Chandler-Roberts 6'2" | PF Benson Tech | 2024 State OR | PF | Benson Tech
Really knows how to use her body down low, and has a great knack for finding offensive rebounds and putbacks. She can either take her opponent back to the basket, but also has a solid face-up game where she can shoot over her defender. Great team leader and paint presence. Another player to look out for this year to have a big season, and will definitely have some colleges looking at her. Chandler-Roberts has the potential to be the best player in the 2021-2022 season, but only time will tell.
