Player Rankings Update 2024: Stock-Risers
In this article:
The size of the 2024 rankings basically doubled after getting a look at a lot of the freshmen during their first year of high school and the grassroots season. In addition to players making their debut – which we will talk about soon – there were a lot of players who made pretty big jumps in the 2024 Rankings 2.0.
Snowda Watie Snowda Watie 5'6" | PG Stilwell | 2024 State OK | 5-6 PG | Stilwell | @snowdawatie10
I recently wrote about Snowda and her outstanding basketball ability. When it came time to adjust the rankings, several coaches mentioned that Snowda was much better than her previous No. 32 ranking. In this iteration, she has moved up nine spots to No. 23 to more accurately reflect where we feel she will end up. The No. 23 spot means that she is most likely a high Division-II player and on the cusp of low Division-I. Her handles are D-I level for sure. Watie is the consummate point guard and does a tremendous job of running the offense of any team that she is playing for. Over the course of the summer, her shooting from the outside improved greatly and has turned her into a dangerous scorer to go along with her ability to run an offense. Snowda is one to watch and I have a feeling that the offers will be coming in very soon.
Kiki Wight Kiki Wight 5'10" | SF Muldrow | 2024 State OK | 5-8 CG | Muldrow | @kiki86362879
The younger sister of a pretty good point guard at Muldrow (on the boys side) has come into her own during her freshman year and the summer grassroots season. Kiki moved up 35 spots – the most of any player – from No. 49 to our No. 14-ranked athlete. She is a tremendous slashing guard with very good size and a preternatural ability to finish at the rim. Kiki is strong and tough and not afraid to do all of the little things to help her squad win. At the No. 14 spot, we foresee Wight receiving high level D-II offers and potentially D-I. With continued development, Kiki could be among the top guards in the state. Muldrow will be must-see basketball this coming season and I for one will be there to see it. Keep an eye on Kiki, coaches. You won’t regret it.
Mary Carden Mary Carden 6'6" | C Idabel | 2024 State OK | 6-5 C | Idabel | @MaryCarden16
In the last rankings, Mary was a 6-foot 5-inch bundle of untapped potential. She has been working with some tremendous coaches and now seeing her on Team Griffin with some of the best players in the state, Carden has really come into her own. Her ability to finish inside has come a very long way. Instead of just depending on her size, Mary has developed good footwork and an ability to turn and face the basket and finish strong. She is a defensive problem for any player that dares to come inside, swatting shots left and right. In a rare match-up with a player taller than her, Carden more than held her own at both ends of the floor. Mary is up to No. 13 in the rankings with the hopes that with continued development in the area of conditioning, she will become a Division-I level player with the ability to give a very good college basketball team some good minutes. Mary Carden Mary Carden 6'6" | C Idabel | 2024 State OK is a true gem in the Oklahoma basketball community and it will be fun to see where things go for her from here.
