I have seen a lot of these players continue to grow their game over the AAU season and they left nothing behind for their last go-around of the summer. The game just seems to come easier to these girls and I am looking forward to seeing them again after high school ball ends. Here are a handful of the 2024 standouts from last weekend.
2025 6’0″ #1 Marcayla Johnson (Banshees Sadler)
The most impressive rebounder that I saw out of the 25’s and you could argue in the whole tournament. Johnson has such a long reach that she will secure the ball even when you think it has gone over her head. She reads the defense really well and hunts for the steal. Has confidence with the ball and can knock down the step-back jumper or three-ball. But, she also has a good vision of the floor and will feed her teammates when open. Has the ability to complete the cross-court or no-look pass. An exciting player to watch!
2025 5’8″ #3 Kayla Washington Kayla Washington 5'10" | SF Bishop Ireton | 2025 State VA (Elevate Elite 3SSB Future)
Elevate Elite 3SSB Future is stacked with some snipers from behind the three-point line and Kayla Washington Kayla Washington 5'10" | SF Bishop Ireton | 2025 State VA is one of the ones to watch out for!! She is an aggressive guard that can handle the ball well in traffic but can get down low and post up big if her team needs her to. Washington is an all-around tough competitor that wants to be on the court. Don’t lose her coming off of a screen or she will hit one with your hand up.
2025 5’6″ #4 Caliyah DeVillasee (Elevate Elite 3SSB Future)
Caliyah reminds me of the energizer bunny every time I watch her play. She simply does not let up any time that she has a foot on the court. Can get to the hole with either hand with ease and can knock down a shot from anywhere she pulls up from. When driving to the basket, she knows how to work her body to catch the defender off guard and draw the foul. DeVillasee is wise beyond her years. Looking forward to what the next AAU season has in store for this young gun!
2025 #24 6’0″ Kaliyah Murphy (Elevate Elite 3SSB Future)
Kaliyah came off of the bench for her team and brought the heat with her. She is another one of her team’s go-to shooters when in the game and will knock it down whether it is contested or not. Murphy makes the right play and is unselfish with the ball but knows when to take her shot. She can play the backup point guard when necessary and handles the ball well.
