Destinee Barnes | Winston Salem Christian
Barnes has the height and build of a forward and the speed and ball handling skills of a guard. She easily grabs steals from blocked shots and moves it up the court weaving in and out of her opponents. She finds herself fighting for rebounds even earning some old fashioned three point plays after grabbing an offensive board. When she doesn’t have the ball, she makes smart cuts down to the block ready to catch a pass and shoot.
Zahra Douglas Zahra Douglas 5'9" | SF Marvin Ridge | 2023 State NC | Marvin Ridge
Douglas will absolutely hustle after the ball every play grabbing steals over and over to help her team gain possession. She does a great job pushing it up the court herself, and she can certainly find open teammates cutting to the basket. On set offenses, she moves all over the court contributing with her jump shot from downtown all the way to posting up on the block. She makes sure she has a chance to grab the rebound after every shot, too.
Kirsten Watt Kirsten Watt 5'5" | SF Asheville | 2023 NC | Asheville
Watt’s (pictured above) length comes in handy when she is on defense causing problems for her opponents by grabbing steals. She anticipates these passes on defense, too, making sure her opponents cannot get their play going. On offense, she can certainly post up underneath or knock down shots from deep. She is strong with the ball protecting each possession using her strength to push her opponents out of her way.
Sydney Gueterman Sydney Gueterman 5'11" | SF 1 Of 1 Prep Academy | 2023 State NC | Ardrey Kell
Gueterman is one of the faster decision makers that I have seen at her position. She knows exactly what she wants to do with the ball as soon as she catches the pass whether she is showing off a shot from downtown or turning her body to score the basket. She is always ready running down the court in transition immediately sliding in front of her opponent sealing them off to catch an entry pass. She sees the floor well, too, knowing how to get her teammates a pass for them to score.
