Alaysia Gude Alaysia Gude 5'9" | CG LaVega | 2025 State TX -5’8 G
Gude has been one of those players I saw early, well very early, and just knew big things were coming because she was long and athletic, had a scary first step, and got to the rim with ease, and over the years, she just kept adding and watching her in the open court at the event was definitely enlightening as her speed and ballhandling in the open court just set everything off. She played the passing lane and applied so much heat defensively I broke a sweat. The pull-up jumper was nice, so were the passes in traffic yet her upside is still, well scary
Sarahi Beltran Sarahi Beltran 5'3" | PG Victory Christian | 2025 State OK -5’2 G
Beltran showed something I love seeing in #sizedontmatter players and that was “poise under pressure” which adds to the hashtag “because she can play” and watching her handle the ball while being defended, sometimes double teamed and getting out of jams, yes she reads the trap coming while being able to attack and, or, see the floor was very nice but she has a variety of moves to get out of jams including a spin that had me dizzy
Brooke Bettis Brooke Bettis 5'6" | PG Tulsa Union | 2025 State OK -5’5 G
Bettis handled the ball so smoothly, she stayed under control and she too played with “poise under pressure” but watching her control the tempo when she ran the 1 and understand the simple things made me smile. She plays within herself, doesn’t force anything other than making the defender commit, and then she goes by them effortlessly for the pull-up, the attack and finish or dishing the ball and she played some pretty tough defense
Vanessa Coleman Vanessa Coleman 5'10" | SF Tulsa Union | 2025 State OK -5’8 G
Coleman doesn’t mind contact at all and watching her BATTLE against taller players for rebounds was nice, well very nice because that’s one of those intangibles you can’t teach that I speak of often. She finishes after that contact I mentioned, off of putbacks or attacking the rim which she does nicely after creating her shot and speaking of her shot, she knocked it down from a variety of angles from midrange as well as the long-range
Teresa Martin-5’5 G
Martin showed off the top in the 1 on 1 drill she enjoyed playing defense as she moved her feet and stayed glued to her man and that translated over to the 5 on 5 but let me back up to the 1 on 1 where she also gave me a glimpse on what was coming by taking the defender off the dribble with either hand to finish after contact. Her court vision was nice, especially in the open court and she also showed she could hit the pull-up jumper as well as the stop and pop in transition
Bailey Wilson-5’9 F
Wilson also got stamped with that #BATTLE hashtag because went after the ball so many times off the rim instinctively and again, I loved intangibles and I love watching players do things you can’t teach so yeah, her rebounding was nice especially after her putbacks, sometimes including contact but that didn’t faze her, even in the 1 on 1 drill and she also played some tough defense, but inside the paint and outside where she was “on the ball”
Katie Allen-5’7 G
Allen is another player that has just shown me a lot the few times I caught her yet showed me enough to know what’s coming because she’s heady and when you comprehend the game and understand how to break it down, that’s huge and I think about her making tough passes look easy, no you will not rattle her with pressure, she absorbs and flips it back at you because she reads the floor and sees plays before they develop, that’s also huge and watching her attack, attack, and dish or dropping mid to long-range shots were all very good signs
Tori Kilburn-5’10 SF
Kilburn has the right last name because she has that “killa instinct” to just “burn” the nets, remember, #ThereIsNoMe yet she’s 2 inches shy of “the magic number” that college coaches love, especially when you can shoot it and as causing Troy Landry would say, she can definitely shoot it. She elevates on the jumper, her release is nice, and watching her get her shot off whenever she wanted was impressive, so is her upside
