Jada Brown Jada Brown C Bentonville | 2022 State AR | PG | 2022 | Bentonville High School
Jada wasn’t included in the article Arkansas Top Point Guards, but that doesn’t mean she’s not considered one of the best PG’s in the state. The Vanderbilt commit is a patient and poised lead guard. She doesn’t force anything offensively and lets the game come to her. When pushing the ball in transition she immediately gets her eyes up the floor looking to advance the ball with the pass. Jada can shoot it, attack off the catch, and has a throwback skill of knowing how to feed the post. Defensively she’s no slouch. She can apply pressure and anticipate for deflections and steals when off the ball.
Pacious McDaniel Pacious McDaniel 5'10" | SF Harber | 2023 State AR | Forward | 2023 | Har-Ber High School
I used to hate playing against players that always played hard. Not out of control but those players that hustle every play, dive on the floor for loose basketball, sprint back on defense, and rebound aggressively. If you are like me then you won’t like playing against a player like Pacious. She does all of those things and more. She can attack in the open court, beat you off the catch from triple threat position, and once she gets to the rim she’s a crafty finisher.
Caylan Koons Caylan Koons 5'9" | SG Har-Ber | 2022 State AR | Wing | 2022 | Har-Ber High School
In the game I evaluated of Caylan I could tell that she has more to offer. She played well and did of good job of her role. She showed good footwork off the dribble. Caylan did an excellent job of moving and cutting off the ball. I could tell these were cuts off anticipation and reading her defender. Once she cut, she did a really good job of completing the play by finishing at the rim in traffic.
Carlee Casteel | Wing | 2023 | Rogers Heritage High School
I really like players that understand how play defense. I’m not even talking about getting a lot of steals or blocks, but those players who understand how to get to their spots early and have the awareness and alertness from their help position. This is what Carlee did during the game I evaluated. She got to her help spots early and was good at rotating on defense. Offensively, she can handle the ball, is a good finisher off the dribble, good at initiating contact to draw fouls, can deliver good passes off the dribble and can attack off the catch.
Haitiana Releford | Forward | 2022 | Fort Smith Northside High School
Haitiana is listed as a forward but she often would slide over to the point position. That says a lot about her decision-making ability and IQ. A lot of people think a point guard has to be a great ball-handler, but we all know someone who can handle the ball but has terrible decision-making skills and a low IQ. With her decision-making ability, she would often get the defensive rebound and push it in transition. While in transition her decision-making ability would come into play. She knew when to attack when to pass, and when to slow it down. She showed she can finish a variety of ways on the break, even through contact. Haitiana can also use her aggressive driving nature to make plays for others.
Jaiden Thomas Jaiden Thomas 5'10" | SG Conway | 2022 State AR | Wing | 2022 | Conway High School
If you’ve been reading my articles then Jaiden’s name should sound familiar to you. Even if you haven’t read any of my articles then you should be familiar with her name. The LaTech commit is one of the best catch-and-shoot players in the state of Arkansas. When she gets hot you have to hope she misses. When the defensive rebound is secured she immediately runs the lane wide looking for the pass for the three in transition. In the half-court, it’s no difference. When there’s penetration she will find the open area and get in the penetrator’s vision for the kick out. Defensively you have to stay home or get burned.
Chloe Clardy Chloe Clardy 5'9" | PG Conway | 2023 State AR | Point Guard | 2023 | Conway High School
Chloe is not only one of the top point guards in the state, but one of the top players in the nation. Chloe holds over 30 division 1 scholarship offers. In the half-court and in transition she is a crafty finisher. Being physical doesn’t stop her. She showed she can play through contact and still finish at the rim. If you leave her too much room she can make the open three-pointer also.
Parris Atkins Parris Atkins 5'7" | SG Bryant | 2022 State AR | Combo Guard | 2022 | Bryant High School
Parris is a flat-out athlete. When she goes to the basket she goes strong. Parris is very active on the offensive end. She knows how to use her athletic ability very well. There were shots she missed in the paint in traffic and she would be athletic enough get her own offensive rebound for the putback or to draw a foul. She’s a blur in the open court and displayed the ability to find open teammates in transition. When she’s on defense you have to be careful with your passes. Slow, soft, or lazy passes will be deflected or stolen with her anticipation and speed.
